Solution

This is about the next step for Graphic cards is a HD 6770 it is ATI card here is a link

Now your windows 7 is around 100.00 to 120.00 depending where you buy it. Both Items together are over your budget. Even if you get the same card you are still looking close to 50.00 to 80.00 for it. I know this isn't much to go on but it is a little bit better than what you have.

The reason I chose the ATI card They have more cards to play around with than Nvidia does...
Windows 7 will be an upgrade as you can play DX11 games.
A good upgrade for you would be a 560ti or 6950 if your psu is of good quality or you could go to a lesser card, depends also on your budget.
Overclocking your E8400 will assist to power your gpu to reduce any bottleneck.
You can also add more than 4 gb of ram if you upgrade to Win 7 64 bit.

Well ok. Win7 for sure. My 8400 is a 2,4 clocked up to 3.0 and might take a bit more but not much. I'll start chkn the GPU's thanks for the advice. Happy Holidays!!

When you up grade the GPUs make sure you have enough room in your case. If you have a slim line case the GPUs might be to big If your case is the standard 14H x 163/4 long then you will have no problem. Just food for thought. and Good Luck

Well I'd like to spend $125-140. Want it to play a little better, but it's not as new as it once was so I want a low budget upgrade. Also--I was told to get win7 first and go up from there. What do you think? TY

The reason I chose the ATI card They have more cards to play around with than Nvidia does on the lower end. I hope this helps a little
