Hi Guys,

I'm looking at upgrading my PC, I have ZERO idea what would be good upgrade-wise (apologies for being that guy), I'm really green when it comes to PC specs and what works well etc. I'm not trying to make my PC a £4000 monster, I just want to upgrade it for new releases coming out and to hopefully keep it competitive for the next few years. Please see below my current specs:

CPU: AMD FX-8370
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070
MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5
RAM: 16GB DDR3

(not sure what else you guys need) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oops sorry dude:

Country: UK
PSU: EVGA 750 GQ
Case: Corsair SPEC-DELTA Carbide Series, RGB Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX gaming Case
Monitor: AOC G2260VWQ6 21.5"

I have 1 SSD that the OS is installed on, I've got a few HDDs that steam games are installed on.

Budget id say £500/£700 max if poss. As I've said in the first post im just after a relatively good PC that can play new releases at a nice steady frame rate at a high level, I'm not trying to make it to OTT

Thanks in advance dude :giggle:

Than you for the recommendation dude, quick follow up, do you think I'm ok with the GPU I have now or any recommendations on that front?

@tennis2

Hey dude got a question about the above, not sure how to PM, I was looking at the intel i5 10600K, what kind of set up would you reccomend that compares to the above?

Im only asking this as I'm too impatient to wait for a Ryzen 5 5600X 🤣, well no I'm still willing to wait but wasn't sure if I could get a good build using the i5?

Hopefully im making sense 👍🏻

Hey dude, me again 🤦‍♂️

I've ordered the below as suggested by you (thanks again)

CPU: Intel Core i5-10600K 4.1 GHz 6-Core Processor (£238.00 @ Technextday)
Motherboard: MSI MPG Z490M GAMING EDGE WIFI Micro ATX LGA1200 Motherboard (£174.99 @ Box Limited)

I'm looking at an Air cooler for my CPU not a water cooler but struggling to find one that will work well with the CPU and also fits my case, as my case isn't on PC part picker for some reason.

Case: Corsair SPEC-DELTA Carbide Series, RGB Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX gaming Case

Thanks for your help AGAIN

That case has a Maximum CPU Cooler Height of 160mm

I found your case if you would like to add it to your list, though it did not come up right away.
Corsair SPEC-DELTA Carbide Series

Here are three coolers at different price points:
Hyper 212 Black edition $34.99 (I use this one in my VR rig)

Noctua NHU12s $59.95

Noctua NHD14 $79.95

There are plenty of other coolers if you do not like these. These are just well known and work well.

the Hyper 212 is a good cooler, but an old design (over 10 years now!) that struggles with CPUs with more than 4 cores.

I'll suggest something liek the Arctic Freezer 34 Esports or the Be Quiet! Pure Rock 2 or Shadow Rock 3 as better for a 6-core CPU.

While the Hyper 212 was released many years ago, it has stood the test of time, becoming one of the most popular air-coolers of all time. The proven performance record and relatively low cost makes it a great choice still. I have it on a 9700k and my temps do not go over 73C on hot days (its in the garage). Maybe I have a cooler running 9700k.. Regardless, All of the cooler options you listed are great as well. The cooler market is saturated. A lot of people today just choose what looks best for their budget.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black would be another popular choice.
