Unless you can't wait to have a new rig right now, Conroes will be out in about 50 days time...

From initial pre-release testing, it appears a 2.26Ghz Conroe wll be more than a match for an FX60 or fx62 in pretty much all applications

i think you will need faster ram to get a really good overclock, and you will need to water cool if you want to get to 3.8 and above, i would love to try overclocking this one! it is so cheap! but your electric bills will show the cost

Its not rather i can wait, its rather i should... i saw some preety amazing results with the 805

Surely the CPU is really cheap, but when you factor in the extra fans, watercooling, beefy PSU, decent case for airflow, and your spike in the power bill is it really that great of a deal?

Wait for Conroe.

Would the power consumption really raise your electric bill that much?

yep! as it will always be using a lot of power.
if you don't pay the bills then its a great option, but i would still wait
overclock something much better the new AMD or Intel Cpus'

One thing I have noticed lately is that there have been more and more threads about how to OC the D805, I don't think it's a coincidence that it's happening after the Toms article on that 4.1GHz D805. I've also noticed that all these ppl asking for help have only posted 2 or 3 times (one guy it was his first post).

PLEASE take your time and learn how to OC properly before trying it, you will get some helpful responses on here but this is not the end all and be all of OC'ing. READ the OC "How to" on various sites before trying, yes the D805 is a great deal if you can get that type of performance out of it but if you fry it then it's not such a great deal is it???

As I said on another post, just because the techno weanies at Toms can do it doesn't mean you can... They also filled a case with vegetable oil and got that to work, want to try that too???

Opterons have a solid history of OC'ing and many many ppl here could help you out with that but I would guess that almost none of the ppl that have OC'd in the past have done it to the D805, why is that??

There are currently at least 3-4 threads that have the words "D805", "OC", "noob" and "help" in them.
