I wish to purchase a PC from the US simply because of the value for money factor. However the main issue is the fact that US power supplies run at 130V rather than 240V, meaning I could invoke a serious accident if I try using an American System in the UK.

I heard that all the components in the computer system can be be used in any system as the voltage conversion is taken care of at the PSU. With this bought in mind my question is, would I be able to safely use an American PC in the UK if I replaced the US power supply given by default with a UK unit, or are there some risks involved?

Pretty much all new power supplies have a switch on them to switch from 110/115v to 220/240v. You will just have to get a different power cord for the different outlet style.

Does this mean that I will be able to still use the original US power supply that came with the US computer? Do I only need to flick the switch on the back from 130V to 240v?

You should be able to use the same PSU just buy an adapter because I think that the outlet is different in europe.
And yes flip the switch.

If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one thath will go wrong first will be the one that will do the most possible damage

I already have a cable which goes from the computer to a 3 pin UK socket (The outlet in the rest of Europe (e.g. Germany, Greece, France) is similar to US sockets except the pins are round). Does this mean I can just flip the switch on the back and use my UK Power Lead with the U.S. PC?
