Question USB Devices randomly shut off ?

When I'm using my computer, every few hours all my USB devices (keyboard, headphones, etc.) just shut off, and the only way to get them to turn back on is to restart the computer. This has only started recently and I don't know the cause. I thought it might be my USB hub but nope. I really hope someone has the fix for this because this is really annoying.

Thanks,
Robinmist :)

Quick edit here: this bug also forced me to wipe one of my external hard drives, so I'm worried about it happening again. Hopefully someone has the solution.

Device manager/usb controllers.
Open each item and check the power management setting.

What’s your full build, including PSU. The info may help if there is a known bug. I’m thinking of Gigabyte and Aorus b550 elite ax v2. Had a bug where it would periodically disconnect or simply not start Bluetooth… bios fixed it eventually.

So help us help you..

i saw an option called "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" or something. i turned that off and i have a strong feeling this will work. i will update in 3 days if it works. thanks! :)
it is a common bug, the system puts the usb ports to sleep but due to bugs it can not wake up.
most of the time you have to update the bios and chipset drivers from the motherboard vendors website. Older machines might need to update an external usb driver from the motherboard vendor site.

Another cause can be apple products charging on a regular usb port. Apple products pull too much power from the usb and the usb port or hub can shut down because it thinks there is a short circuit. (for a pc some vendors have a special apple usb port driver and a specific port to use)

telling windows not to let the port sleep is a work around until the bios and drivers are updated.

USB Device Tree Viewer is a good utility to look for errors in usb
german written utility. look here for info:

I used it one time to find a shorted usb hub that was causing problems.
