Question User Profile disappeared and deleted on Windows 10

Hello everyone,

I am actually stuck and becoming soon crazy because of a problem with windows 10. Yesterday I opened my computer, and I got logged in with a temporary account. I tried to find a solution but found nothing, i manipulated the registry to make windows bootable on my user profile but still no luck. Still, I could find my profile folder under the User folder, with all of my data. The problem is that now it got worse and worse ! I found some instructions online saying that I need to run two commands:

1. sfc /scannow

2. Dism /Online /cleanup-image /restorhealth


The thing is that after the second instructions was run into my command line, I realized that my User profile disappeared and was somehow deleted from my computer.

Now, I want to know how I can get back this folder which is containing all my life for more than 13 years now. I am starting to be depressed when realizing that everything just vanished.

I will be so grateful if someone here encounter the same issue and can help me find a solution, I am so desperate.

all you life info and there is no backup?

#1 stop using your pc now
get a new storage. unplug the one having issue. install windows on the new storage.
then try data recovery on the one having issue.

But you still have car insurance, right?...😉


A good backup has been preached for years...decades.
Ignore that at your peril.

If you can install a new OS on a physically different drive, do that.
Then and only then, attempt to find an copy the data from your old drive.

Do this now.

That is what I am actually doing. I took my professional laptop, plugged my ssd as usb and launched Disk Drill, it will take 7 hours to scan everything. The thing that I don’t understand is how the second command I performed, made everything disappear in my User profile ? Do you have any informations about it ? Thanks
