Using a Wireless Router as a switch?

I'm planning to get a new D-Link Wireless Router with 4 LAN outputs.

Will I be able to use it to set up a multi-PC lan network?
Will the router stop routing the internet in that case?

Well that completely depends on how you connect to the internet. If you have broadband, it'll need to be an ADSL router, or you can create a network bridge if you have another ADSL router that is compatible with network bridging. You can also connect it via ethernet to your old ADSL router and set up your new one to act as a gateway to that one, which can be a little fiddley with IP and network settings depending on what you want, but yes, it is possible. If you send on your router model at home and the one you intend on getting I can provide more help with it.

Simple answer is yes, it will work as a lan when connected to the internet. No matter what type of Internet connection you have.
