Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a Laptop for video editing in DaVinci Resolve 16( when its out of it's beta) . I'll only be editing 1080p .mov files so no 4k or something.
I have a pretty low budget though(~500€), so Ill probably get it second hand.
I found an ACER A717-71G-72W2
with
-intel i7 7700HQ
-GTX1060
-8 gigs of ram (with I would probably add another 8 to)
Do you think that can do it.

And a related question:
If for me the more important aspect is not render-time but being able to smoothly edit nd playback footage should I focus on GPU or CPU

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, the offer is already gone.

But I found one with
i7 7700HQ
GTX1070
16 gigs ddr4 ram

I think that should do it. What is your opinion?

You probably don't need a GTX 1070 for editing, but for gaming it's good.

i7-7700HQ is not as powerful as the i5-8300H or i7-8750H but should be able to handle such workloads with ease.

RAM you'll eventually have to upgrade to 16 GB.

So: If I just want good playback and editing performance and don't need super fast rendering, do I need a strong gpu or cpu?

Even i7-7700HQ is a good option, but it's a power hungry processor and is only available in gaming laptops. So, unless you are planning to game, any 8th gen i7 laptop with Nvidia MX 150 will be a better choice.

Hyperthreading is an Intel technology that almost doubles the core performance, making a dual core processor equivalent to a quad core.

Its just that I think DaVinci Resolve works more on the GPU than most video editing softwares as final cut pro.
Also I cant find any laptops with an i7 8. gen core in my range.

Then get the i7-7700HQ laptop. It will serve all your needs well. but trust me, a 1080 p video will not demand a GTX 1060 or something like that.

Looks like it has pretty high hardware requirement, but they have not mentioned what kind of GPU it exactly needs, just 4 GB VRAM is all i find.

Im still like super mad cause I recently saw an offer for a laptop with a gtx1060 and a i7-8750H for just 600€ but it was instantly gone .
Anyway thank you so mutch for the help.
