I have an ASUS DUAL GTX 1060 6 GB. Last year around May I updated my GPU drivers and I noticed that my videos were a lot darker and more "vibrant", but in a way that seemed too over the top for me. I restarted my PC, tried different video players, but nothing worked. So I reverted to my older driver (536.23) and the issue was solved. I hadn't updated my drivers since May 2023 because of this and today I finally updated it to the latest version (561.09) and once again I'm experiencing the same issue.

The contrast is simply too high and the videos are too dark. Like grays are so dark they look black. This applies to ANY video, doesn't matter if it's Chrome or any video player. It appears that Nvidia implemented some new HDR tech into their drivers and it's making everything darker/more vibrant, but I actually don't like it as it feels unnatural. If this really is the reason for why this is happening, is there any way to revert it?

I've tried everything under the sun. I went to Nvidia control panel > video > adjust video color settings > how do you make color adjustments, and I've tried messing with the brightness, contrast and saturation, as well as the gamma, but it simply does not look as it used to. I even changed my dynamic range from limited to full, but still no dice. Here's a quick comparison:

if you are using any sort of decent display it will also have onboard video settings.
you should go through those and see if you can get a more comfortable color/contrast/etc.
I mean I can change the brightness, contrast and saturation of my monitor but like I said this only applies to videos, the rest of my screen is perfectly fine. And no matter how much I meddle with the contrast/color controls, it never looks as natural as it used to before installing the drivers.
