Personaly i think that Vista is going to be ME's evil twin brother.

So Vista will be stable and will run good, because ME was HORRIBLE! and if Vista is evil twin (whitch usaly means the oppisote on the inside) then Vista will rock? :?

I agree with FIT. As of yet, I have not seen a clear explanation as to why I MUST upgrade to Vista. I understand why they are updating IE from 6 to 7. That makes sense.
The Win98 to XP (after XP was given updates) change was a good move. 98 was not nearly as stable for home users as XP is. In my opinion XPpro is very stable. MS will have to show me some sort of phenomenal abilities with Vista, things I can not even think of now.

Let's not forget that in Feb(?) 2007 every new Dell sold to soccer moms will be Vista, so being the fist one to have it won't be as special as the only kid with phase change cooling.

Software and hardware for years to come will be compatible with XPpro.

now if Vista meant 15-20% faster FPS, maybe....

I just want to add my 2 cents to the discussion, mainly the RAM requirements. I have 2x1GB now and I can monitor RAM utilization from my keyboard, when I play battlefield 2 I hit nealry 80% utilization, incluing the OS, AIM, and Firefox, etc. So it is really not surprising to see that we are encouraged to have 4GB for gaming. I have had 2GB for3 years now, and I keep noticing how much more demanding the games are becoming on the system as a whole.

I for one, am looking forward to Vista. I want to see how MS supposidely integrated alot of stuff, all the metadata, document prefiews w/o opening the actual file, one-touch game updates, and other nifty things. There are also a few hardware devices that are supposed to alunch with Vista, the main one that comes to mind is Hybrid-Harddrives based on flash and magnetic disk storage. DX10 sounds promising, and with the arrival of Halo 2.... I'm screwed, I must upgrade... good thing I can get it for $5 at my university!!!!!

I will be keeping my parents on their typewriter. It is rock solid stable and has low system requirements.

Vista will be the first OS Microsoft actually did right. They had it almost completed then trashed it because it sucked, and completly rebuilt it.

and todays hardware will work with it, plus, XP will still play as always too, no one is forcing your hand especially in the first year or two of its release.

its true no one is forcing me into it... but I'm an addict of the Halo series lol, must have Halo 2 for PC!
