The requirements aren't that high or absurd guys. Have you seen the gameplay video for the PS4/XBOX One. The graphics is pretty amazing. Better than any open world game I've seen so far. I would say this and Witcher 3 will have some crazy requirements to play on MAX settings.

That being said if the PC version is a non-port then the quality may be better than the next-gen consoles. I like that requirements are getting higher. It usually means games will look better. There's a small chance it could be bad programming like some games, but I don't think that will be an issue. If this game can finally utilize more than four cores, and utilize them well then I'll be happy.

I was watching a video, and it seems like as you progress, and hack more and more people, they are all part of this main character's network, and seemingly tracked in real time on the map screen. I would venture to guess after you've traversed the entirity of the map, and gained access to all hackable devices, like cameras, peoples' phones, there's quite a bit of information being shuffled around. My guess is more cores keeps all of this from getting bogged down, or at least adds more responsiveness to the feature(s).

I keep thinking...should I upgrade...should I upgrade. I'm glad that I've decided to wait another year until the 8-core processors come out. Looks like this game will benefit from it, possibly over the 3930k processors (or as Toms erroneously puts it, 3990k).

That's not a factor.

A console can use PC monitor as much as a gaming desktop can use the HDTV.

The only thing will convince me that this game is optimized for 8 cores will be ultra realistic physics and I mean a freaking tornado in the middle of the city rampaging and smashing everything to bits and seeing all the crap flying around and a cow. Otherwise I just can't imagine the necessity for an 8 core.

When I first started to game on PC (about 7 months ago- I should add I've gotten a "proper" gaming PC since then) I gamed with Vista 32-bit, 4gb of DDr2 ram, and 128MB of vram. I got ~13fps in Portal 2, and ~20fps in RCT3

Pretty happy to see 64-bit requirements becoming more common this generation, not only with Watch_Dogs but apparently Battlefield 4 as well. 32-bit operating systems exist primarily to bewilder consumers these days. Windows XP should have been the last.

On a side note I'm always amused by developers' recommended system specs. "Core i7-3770K OR AMD FX-8350" for a given performance tier, implying the two are equivalents. If an i7-3770K is required to get to "Recommended," how is an FX-8350 going to suffice? If an FX-8350 is sufficient, then the i7 is overkill.

You need to fire the guy who wrote this article. This is a huge hit to the site releasing false information. Tom you need to step it up. The other day was to win in a contest you have to sign up on their email list with no option to opt out. Tom I'm going to not link anything from you here very soon.

If you installed windows in the last 5 years and not chosen 64bit you're retarded. My first 64bit os was windows xp 64bit back in 2005.

World of Warcraft is 64bit by default now. Alot of upcoming games are finally using it thank god it's only been 8 years.

Sakkura: 'Requirements spiraling out of control? What the... requirements have been bogged down for years because of the long console cycle. To PC gamers, higher requirements is a blessing.'

Sorry but this kind of requirements is blessing to hardware industry, not users. Users would benefit from programmers doing less lazy programming and more optimizing usualy unoptimized games. Sometimes even leaving code unoptimized just to give a push to users buying more of "new shiny things" . Sometimes is real beauty to see what demo scene do with much less resources, just with no making hogs everywhere around. But for that you have to have a good intentions not planing to make users buy stuff they wouldn't need if programmers have being doing their job well.

As of 64-bit, nothing surprising giving minimum memory requirements.

^ I think once we get to 12 + cores we can start to look at 128bit. It's not feasible right now with CPUs not developed yet, but give it another 5 years. The future is exciting!
