This is probably an idiotic question but since my old pc broke and I was suggested that it was the PSU then I thought I can buy the PSU for my new build and hopefully it would work on my old build for the time being. Now, I just found a good PSU: Coolermaster CM STORM Edition GX550 its on sale today so I thought I might check it out. I think it has the necessary cables but I would like some confirmation.

First off im not sure if its continuous power.

Then will it work with my old system? My current old system needs one 4pin CPU connector, and the new mobo needs 8.

Specs of both are here:
Old:
i5 2320 @3.30 Ghz
4gb ddr3 1333Mhz RAM
Mobo Acer IPISB-VR Rev 1.0 H67
AMD Radeon HD 6570 GPU
SSD for windows and HDD

New:
i5 7600
Gigabyte Z270 GamingK3
16GB DDR4 2133 GSkill Ripjaws V
Probably a GTX980 thought undecided and most likely going to upgrade to a 1070 or 1080.
CoolerMaster Hyper 212X CPU Cooler

Here are the cables on the PSU:
20+4 Pin MB x 1
4+4 Pin CPU + 12V x 1
6+2 Pin PCI-e x 2
SATA x 6
4 Pin Peripheral x 3
4 Pin Floppy x 1

What does 20+4 Pin MB x 1 that mean? Is that a 24pin Power connector?

4+4 Pin CPU + 12V x 1 Does this mean that there is an 8pin and a 4pin? Technically that means the 4 pin would work on my old one for now until I get my new setup with the 8pin?

And lastly will it power both systems? I'm 100% sure that 550W is enough but does everything match? I'm not sure where to find the necessary information. Thanks

Yes.

It means you have an 8-pin ATX12V cable which can be split into 4-pin + 4-pin (wherein you can use just one half for motherboards that only require a 4-pin connection). So, yes, you can use just the 4-pin on your old setup, and use 4+4 (8-pin) if your new motherboard requires an 8-pin connection.

As for the quality, the GX550 is not the best out there (unless you are getting the GX II Pro series made by Enhance Electronics that uses 100% Japanese Capacitors). I would look...

I would look into getting a better quality model if I were you. Look at EVGA SuperNova G2 550, or the Corsair RM550x, or the Seasonic G-550. If budget is tight, you can check Corsair CX550M or Seasonic M12II-520 EVO.
