Here are some benchmarks that proves the fx-4500 is better than the ati x1900 xt
So wait, the $2,115.14 card beats the sub $300 card by 4 frames per second, and you're calling it a great card? Doom3 is OpenGL, and that's the Quadro's specialty. Try playing F.E.A.R., Half-Life 2, or Oblivion on that thing and it'll look like power point. You're truly the greatest fool of all if you spent that much on a videocard that'll barely keep up with an X1900XT.

I beat fear with my pentium 950 and fx-4500 in sli with all the setting at max on 800x600. It played nice at 1024x768 but slowed down with more enemies.800x600 is NO WHERE NEAR MAX!!!! That isn't even high rez dude. If you want to play at low rez get yourself a wii or ps2. Try playing a game and 1280x1024 or even better 2560x1200

The video card settings were on maximum. If I had a better processor, maybe more ram I could do more resolution.

And maybe if you had one of these, you could watch movies on your computer too!

And dude, a 7600gt that costs $110 can beat your FX-4500 in SLI

Here is a motivational poster that fits this situation perfectly (well almost, what you're trying to do is more stupid)

I beat fear with my pentium 950 and fx-4500 in sli with all the setting at max on 800x600. It played nice at 1024x768 but slowed down with more enemies.

Hey genius, you just proved all of us right. It SLOWED DOWN at 1024x768? My $300 X1900 can play 1024x768 with NO slowdown. Keep them coming, this is getting entertaining.

In a way, I kinda hope you are one of those twisted people that gets a kick out of starting an idiotic thread just to argue with people.

ohh ok did you have the setting on maximum uhhh duuhhhh

Well, lets see, I can play Oblivion, which is MORE demanding than fear on maximum at 800x600 (and I think 1024x768) at max settings, so what do you think? Plus, I paid maybe a tenth what you did meaning you should be getting WAY better performance. And YOUR NOT.

Just admit that you screwed up and made a bad decision, we all do it from time to time, they usually don't cost so much money though.

Sadly this little boy is a troll and I would recommend no more responses to him. This thread started out as follows
Sound unbelievable but now I have a quadro plex model 1 in addition to my custom built machine.

Obviously a youngster with a too much time on his hands and no adult supervision. Chips, there is nothing wrong with learning about this stuff and gathering what you can from the forums but there is no need to try and impress anyone here. Build the best rig you can and make it sing and you will get more congratulations and "well done"s than you can imagine. I for one like to see the guy with the lower end rig manage to get the thing to beat the folks who drop 5k on a system and can't overclock it past 8%.

Never make up stories and always ask questions. I love the fact that I got this stinking e4300 up past 3.2GHz. I have had AMD forever and am learning huge amounts about O/Cing on an Intel rig. I'd love an e6600 and may even get one but the fun is getting the thing to run 75% or better over the stock clock speed.

It ain't the money you spend (although faster is always better) it is how you handle the gear you have. Buy a rig you can afford, learn as much as you can. buy some used parts and overclock the beast. You will get the respect you so desperately crave a lot faster that way than making up ludicrous stories mate.

If you really did spend your money stupidly then roger up to it and chalk it up as a learning experience. There is no one here worth his weight that has not made some blindingly stupid mistakes. I guarantee that. I know I have and still do. This is my third watercooled rig and I am still pissed off at some of the mistakes I made. You got to suck it up and take your hits. This is a neverending learning process and there is always someone that knows more than you do.

You people are liers, stupid and just jerks you act like I am trying to fight you. You have no lives. You want me to make another post so you can dis it further hurt you reputation of being a complete looser. good bye

lol ok so with that card and your pentium D 950 you were barely able to play Fear at 1024x768.. you really need a reality check.
Look at these benchmark results of FEAR on a 8800gtx with everything maxed with 4xAA and 16xAS.. http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/412/10/

That card is getting 69-70 fps average with those settings at 1600x1200 wich is alot more then your card would ever hope to do.

YAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!

LOL, this is a lost cause.

I am reminded of an old saying:

"An open ear is the first sign of an open mind".

He does not understand because he doesn't want to. Let him be happy in his ignorant bliss. Tis a lost cause here.

Wow, we tried to help you at first. You wouldn't take that help.

So you kept having diarhea of the mouth even after every poster was telling you that you were way off.

It was just criticism of your build, it's ok to make mistakes but the forumz are here so people can learn from others mistakes.

And of course every single person here is wrong, lying and stupid except you

I guess there are some people who have to just piss on the electric fence to find out things for themselves

Don't blame us when something of yours is all burnt up and lost.

uhh... your money... that's what is going to get burnt up

EDIT: just looked at newegg, the FX4500 costs $1,599 and he supposedly has two of them. Must have been a troll. No one is stupid enough to spend $3,200 on the graphics cards alone and not be wondering why he can only play FEAR at 800X600.

Instead of us being "losers" lets let him post benchmarks from CoH or some other demanding game. Let the outcome of the benchmark prove to him the reality that he is an idoit for buying it for gaming purposes. That is of course that he could get the game to start the benchmarks without crashing.

It is then that we'll find out who the true idiot is.....but then we already know the outcome don't we.........

Pro: I have an FX5200!
Con: It's the Geforce

Pro: I can play FEAR!
Con: Only at 800 by 600

Pro: It plays smoothly!
Con: With everything (and I mean everything) turned off

I think I'm going to go cry now.

Apple's own benchmarks indicate that the Quadro FX 4500 is faster in games than the Radeon X1900 XT;

Did you even read that anandtech review you posted?? The 1900 is actually underclocked in the Mac, which might explain the slightly lower numbers.
ATI should still be faster
the Quadro FX 4500 should actually be slower than the Radeon X1900 XT on the Mac Pro.

Find some benchmarks for the Quadro done on a Windows PC and see which video card does better. Different OS means different drivers means probably different performance. Unless your next post is to tell us that you built a super Mac, try posting benches that matter and back up your statement.

And what ever happened to those pics??

and I almost forgot, my old amd 3000+ with a gig of corsair value ram and x800 pro played F.E.A.R better than you!

By the way, the thing about ATI underclocking the Mac cards because there's less demand (and also for more profit)...it's so they can use worse binned (if that's the word) cards that wouldn't run properly at full clock speeds or something?

For the record I play FEAR at 1024x768 with my single core 3500+, one gig Corsair value ram, and x1800XT. (cost of machine was<$800) I don't know if the setting were maxed, but I do know that shadows were on. (scared the crap out of me the first time I shot my shadow...)

First, let me say thanks for the funniest thread I've read in awhile. Let me be the first to ask this thread to be turned into a stickie. This should be required reading for college students and anyone wanting to build a computer. You should be using the right tool for the job. So instead of using your rock to drive in a nail, you'd be better off using a hammer. Right tool for the right job!

Second, let me remind you of something. Forums are great places to find information, and to debate topics. Something I learned in college you either never learned, or forgot. If your debating something, and one person tells you your wrong, then continue the debate. But if you say something and EVERYONE(!) says the SAME thing (and it goes against what you think/said) then you need to stop the debate and double check your facts.

Third, just because something costs alot doesn't mean its the best or the fastest. Often times your buying something just for the name.

Again, if it pleases the tomshardware forum gods, please make this a stickie. This thread was soooo funny. (I was crying when I saw the DVD rewind machine...)

MY F_!CKING rig thats 3 years old played FEAR at 1280x1024 with high-medium detail and 4x AA. HOLY EFFING FKKKS my whole rig costed me less than 2000 and that was because i went straight from the distributors with the company I owned at the time. My x800xt beats your 2000.00+ card and it had to process an extra 524,288 pixels per frame. Here, i'll go even futher, processing at an average of a modest 35 fps, which is about what i got playing FEAR, thats is an extra 18,350,080 pixels per second. Don't worry, i'm even going to show you the grand total per second of your card vs. my card.

To be even more fair, I'm going to say your setting matched mine (doubtful, but I'm THAT nice)

YOUR card at 35 FPS @ 1024*768= 27,525,120 pixels per second@35fps
MINE (x800xt) at 35 FPS @1280*1024= 45,875,200 pixels per second@35fps

Overall pixels processed winner?
18,350,080 or 60% greater pixels processed per second.

That makes my card, a three year old AGP card, outperform your WORKstation card by at least 60%.

You're an idiot. I want to be nice to you, but you're an idiot, if my great great grandfather Charles webster knew you he would have posted you under the definition of "idiot-see chip2481", followed by your address and telegraph so anyone who didnt understand the definition could meet you and find out personally just what an idiot is.

You don't live on your own, you dont have your own house, you dont own a car, you dont know a damn thing about computers. ES'es are the property of Intel, so you dont even own your P4D! You thought one day, "Hey, i'm gonna show everyone how awesome I am buy making them think i have an 18,000 VGA card". I can't go any further because my mind wont go that stupid. I would have to be you for a day to see how stupid you are.

Here, i'm going to define IGNORANCE for you.

Ignorance-(merriam webster dictionary) the state or fact of being ignorant : lack of knowledge, education, or awareness

Follow that by a helpful dose of

Stupid - given to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner c: lacking intelligence or reason : brutish

Here's an olive branch I am offering you. LISTEN with your EARS and make the choice everyone is telling you. Nobody is jealous or spiteful here. Nobody wants to screw you over because you have the money to afford an expensive gfx card. What we ALL have said is that WORKstation cards do NOT game, not even well. No one will ever recommend a workstation card for gaming, ever.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT BUY A WORKSTATION VGA FOR GAMING!

EDIT: I retract the idea of a death threat, I went WAAAAY overboard on that one.

Keep defending your stupid idea and you will start getting death threats from us! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT BUY A WORKSTATION VGA FOR GAMING!

You might perhaps, but don't speak for all of us please. As he has mentioned, the choice is his. If he chooses not to listen to us, that is his choice. I, and all other sane people, will not threaten to kill him becuase of his (very stupid!) choice. All we can do is show this horse where the stream is, its up to him to drink.

Why are you all still "feeding" this? Can't you see that he's having the time of his (dumb) life? Omg 6 pages already.

I will never buy an ati or a geforce they are cheap. I am going to get a xeon quad core system, they don't support sli but now that I have a plex it doesn't matter. Like having the cake and eating it too. 😛

LOL - At least he is looking at getting Workstation/Server CPU's to go with his workstation graphics card.

Maybe these links will help:
