just to ask you something will you buy gt 300 for 400$?
You never answered my question: If the G300 came out tomorrow, would having DX11 games matter then?
I'll answer your question. IF the G300 uses its new arch in spectacular ways both gpgpu and gfx, and IF the G300 actually can make its huge make up work and scale accordingly, then heck yes.
I have my doubts tho, as its using alot of those arch improvements for gpgpu usage, which doesnt transfer over to regular gfx at all in most cases from what Ive seen so far, and thats just the way it is.
So, buying a G300 to me at this point, looks to be a waste of silicon in part, as alot of its functionality, even tho it may be really great at gpgpu usage, I currently have no use for.
Also, its going to be huge, and I have even greater doubts about a 400$ price, and would be quite surprised if this were the price of this card from the get go, regardless of performance, and even moreso, if its a really 5xxx series killer.
Understand John_, I have no qualms buying whats the better scenario here, as long as the G300 really surprises, I'll be recommending it, and for gpgpu usage, for sure, without a doubt

That you need to ask nvidia not me because they have a big influence on developers...Nvidia is still big player in that area

mw 2 is made on the same engine like mw1 so system requirements will be pretty similar, so gtx 260 will be more than enough...

With the HD5870 on the market retailing at $400/£300 at least Nvidia won't be able to get away with charging $650 for it's premium card like it did with the GTX280 when that was launched.

Personally I'm waiting for the 2Gb mores to appear, I would love to get HD5850/HD5870 now but I know in a years time I will be regretting not getting a 2Gb model.

Stop lying

There are many games out there (too many to count…) that a GTX260 cannot maintain an average 60 fps with minimum 30fps. Not to mention that some games run terrible with your mediocre GTX260 with average 20fps…

“There's nothing out at the moment that really stresses my 260.”
^ This statement is correct only if you play games at 320x240

Just because there are games out there that CAN stress a GTX 260 doesn't meant that I actually PLAY them. I, personally, hated Crysis with a passion so i don't give a damn if it stresses my card. I play the Call of Duty series and that's about it and the GTX 260 is more than enough for that. Especially at my monitor's puny 1280x1024 resolution. :pfff:

I think you'll be supprised...

I think alot of people are expecting Nvidia to have a card close to 2x the power of 5870 on a single GPU....if this is the case then Nvidia can charge what they like for the prividge as the performance will be unmatched!

Uh, you're expecting NVidia to release a single GPU card with double the power of their GTX 295? Keep dreaming! The 4870x2 still keeps up with the 5870. If you're lucky, the single GPU NVidia releases will be on par with GTX 295 with (hopefully) less power and heat.

No, because double the power of GTX 295 is about 110% of hd 5870!

I said close to double 5870...so about 60% faster than a gtx295.

AMD's new card is WEAK! 20-30% faster than a gtx 285... FAIL

I say double the 285 and a bit more and your close to Nvidia's next top single GPU....thats my guess.

What? The 5870 is on par with the GTX 295, and better in some cases. I don't know what delusional world you're in, but you better set yourself up for a letdown. The new cards will not be 60% faster than the 5870. You'd be lucky to get that from their next generation, not that NVidia even has this one released yet.

20% tops, if everything works out alright, if not, the same, or edges it out.
I think the G300 has all the potential to beat the 5870, but having potential, and making it all come to pass are 2 differing things.

C'mon quit slacking off, do the right thing and support the economy by throwing a GTX 285 in the empty slot to handle PhysX processing !!!!! Better yet buy two and use them with the twin 5870's :)

Then go out and buy Batman : Arkham Asylum and post some screenies of the Scarecrow levels :)
