there isn't a difference, it is the same drive. Sites just use name and code interchangeably.

Model name: MZ-V8V500
Model code: MZ-V8V500BW

See page 5 - https://semiconductor.samsung.com/resources/data-sheet/Samsung_NVMe_SSD_980_Data_Sheet_Rev.1.1.pdf

Buy the cheaper one since they both the same.

@Colif Thank you very much for your quick response.

I have checked your shared Pdf specification for SSD 500GB. Technical specification in pdf file says SSD 500GB read speed is 3,100 MB/s while when we see physical product box of SSD 500GB, it says read speed is 3500 MB/s.

Pdf specification file:
https://semiconductor.samsung.com/resources/data-sheet/Samsung_NVMe_SSD_980_Data_Sheet_Rev.1.1.pdf

SSD 500GB product box:

Could you please let me know which read speed is correct, written on product box or written in pdf specification file?

Thanks a lot.

Well, according to us its 3100 - https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-980-m2-nvme-ssd-review
1tb gets 3500

this page shows up to 3100 under specifications - https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/nvme-ssd/980-500gb-nvme-pcie-gen-3-mz-v8v500bw/
same place on the 1tb shows 3500 - https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/nvme-ssd/980-1tb-nvme-pcie-gen-3-mz-v8v1t0bw/
the 250 only gets 2900.

Speed drops as size drops.

I can't explain why box contradicts data sheet and website. I would be more inclined to believe the websites.

Buy the 1tb if you want full speed.

all of the boxes have same speed showing on them, the 250 says it too.
its cheaper to make 1 box for all 3 models and just get away with saying UP TO 3500 when 2 of the drives never hit that speed.

Yes, you are right. I think so that read speed will be 3100 MB/s.

I want to install this 500GB SSD in my Macbook Air 2017. I think I will have to purchase and use the connector/adaptor.

If I use the connector/adaptor then will it reduce the read/write speed of SSD? Any suggestion? Thanks.
