I saw an Intel 700E for sale but it said FCPGA???? Will it work in most P3 boards I have a gateway board with a 450 in it already. Please Help!!!

FCPGA is the Socket type of CPU, (Socket 370 I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't work with Intel much).

I believe that the Gateway's with 450s in them is Slot 1, which is the Katmai core. So no, I don't think the 700 would work in the computer you have.

check with gateway on that... if the board can support lower voltage requirements and they have a bios update, a slot adapter would work fine..

Just a quick note. FCPGA refers to the flip chip packaging. That basically means that its inside out or upside down. The really hot part is much more easily cooled. A bit like if your heart was on top of your chest instead of inside. It might sound a little stupid, but if your heart was incredibly burning hot, and to survive you had to cool it down, thats what you'd have to do. Otherwise, if you dumped ice cubes on your chest it still wouldn't cool your heart enough, and either way your lungs would probably fry in the meantime. Why are we designed with our testicles on the outside? We're all too familiar with how painfully sensitive and pitifully easily injured they are. Sounds like a crazy idea, but none of us would be here today, otherwise. It's all about the heat dissipation. Pure and simple.

Gee, I really wish I hadn't gone there...

What the Hell was that!?! You were doing good up to flip chip and then something went horribly wrong. Now you got me thinking. Do they make testical heatsinks? AHHHHH!!! No more!!!

"Are you saying that I can dodge bullets?"

Gateway sucks. I'm at work and I want to find out up to what P3 and what kind my board can support. I'm upgrading from a P3 450 its the kind that stands perpendicular to the board???? Cause I want to Bid on one. Anymore Help????
