I tried the technique describe in the article https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/uninstall-microsoft-edge-windows-11 but that didn't work.
I then made a comment over in https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/how-to-uninstall-microsoft-edge-in-windows-11-or-10.3722636/ that the technique describe in the article didn't work. But that only prompted a moderator to lock the thread (so my post is the last post there). The moderator wasn't even nice enough to respond with something like:
"Correct, it no longer work's, but we are trying to find a solution to that."
or "I'm sorry but MS in fact no longer allows you to uninstall Edge by any possible means."

Just no reply at all and locked the thread. I checked my DMs to see if they had messaged me an answer. Nope, they didn't even do that.

So now I'm posting a topic here, asking the community for help. If anybody knows how to uninstall the current version of MS Edge on Windows 10 or Windows 11, please let me know. I'm subscribing to this thread so I can be updated as soon as there's a reply.

Why do you want to do this?
  • To free up storage space? If you're running that short on space, buy a bigger storage drive
  • To free up RAM? If you're not actively using it (I do see it running in the background sometimes), then it's sipping RAM. And if this is the reason, you need more RAM anyway.
  • Don't want some Microsoft app spying on you or whatever? Then why are you using Windows?
  • Just don't like having it on your computer? Well I guess if you really want, you can try doing a tiny build of Windows, but then enjoy the hours of frustration it'll bring when things don't work and there's no obvious solution because it could've been one of the many things tweaked making that tiny build.
In short, either switch to Linux (if you want to "complete control" of what gets installed, better start with Gentoo), or just tuck away the shortcuts somewhere and ignore it.

Why do I want to get rid of it? Simply because I already switched to Firefox as my main browser. No sense in wasting harddrive space with 2 browsers. Now that I got FireFox, I should be able to uninstall Edge. Now there was a trick to get rid of it before (as that TH article mentioned), so I'm guessing there's a new trick now. For every time MS tries to stop you from doing something, there's usually a way around it, no matter how many steps it takes. I'm looking not for a workaround, but a direct replacement for the tutorial givin in the TH article I refered to in my opening post, that will work to get rid of Edge, just like how that TH article trick used to work to get rid of Edge. There's gotta be a way to get rid of it. Anybody here able to help?

it is possible, but not recommended as it is an essential part of Microsoft OS.

Below link shows how-to but you have to realize, some parts of windows may not function properly and Edge will probably get reinstalled with a scheduled update:

I suppose I could commend you for the amount of effort you're willing to put just to save ~650MB.

I mean, if you're going to go this far, I would suggest using Tiny10 build of Windows 10.

If for no other reason, it's useful to have two browsers installed because if Firefox ever throws an error you can fire up Microsoft Edge to check if that has the same issue.
Also, even if you set Firefox as default browser, some Microsoft links in Windows are "hard-wired" to open in Edge.

It really is pointless trying to get rid of it. You could very well end up have to re-install Windows over something so trivial.

Uninstall?......no idea.
Just a mention that you can clean up a lot of stuff that edge saves with Ccleaner.

That does not stop edge from continuing to save that stuff.
