Current system, CPU: Amd Ryzen 5 2600x, GPU: 1660 Super, 16gb ram, MB: MSI B450 gaming Plus Max. I'm thinking a ryzen 7 5600x and some faster better ram 32gb or a Radeon 6600 core 8b. FYI only GPU instock not my desired one but from what i understand still a decent upgrade. Also according to CPU-Z my ram is slower much slower then i remember buying . Also the GPU is a 4.0 and my MB is only 3.0 will that have a big performance impact? I'm also aware id have to do a bios flash

Solution
Elden ring optimization is horrendous. Sometimes your system specs don't even matter. But you might benefit from a GPU upgrade instead of a CPU upgrade in this case. I would still recommend a CPU upgrade first and then down the line get a 3060-3070 etc. But if graphics are more your preference selling your current GPU and getting the best card you can afford But make sure you have the new GPU tested and working for a few days before selling the 1660.
What is your upgrade budget?
Around 600$. Not the greatest for upgrades atm but its all I can afford for some foreseeable time. I just want my system to be able to support new games. Doesn't have to be on ultra 4k settings. 1080- medium high mix at 60fps is what i'm aiming for the foreseeable future of gaming.

your PC seems capable of that for most games. Are there any specific games that cant hit that? I would probably suggest a 5600x, 3600mhz ram, and a 1080p 144hz monitor if you don't have one.

Well, Elden ring. Though I've read its not just me having performance issues. But i started thinking of an upgrade reading its system requirements. While i do hit the Minimum requirements I am below the recommended. Honestly while I don't play a lot of triple A games anymore there are few big ones i wanna ensure my system can handle. for example Avowed from obsidian. I was also thinking of getting a ps5 but that's only for one game. Demon's Souls remake. A console for one games is a waste of $$.
