Says AX is backwards compatible, but what speeds? AC 1200, 1300? AC1900... AC3150???

Need to upgrade, AX adapter potentially cheaper for faster AC speeds but can't find actual speeds anywhere, just that its backwards compatible everywhere!?!🙃

Are you sitting right next to the router? You will get max speed. Are you 2 floors away in an townhouse with 7 competing WIFI signals? You won't get max speed. This is why I said there are too many variables.
But lets get the advertising speak out of the way -- an ac5300 router -- Say for example the Asus RT-AC5300. Look at the specs page -- https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/RT-AC5300/specifications/ The MAX AC data rate is specified as 1734Mbit.
The TX3000E adapter for example -- https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/pci-adapter/archer-tx3000e/#specifications ALSO has a max...

There are too many variables in your question. What specific AX adapter and which specific AC router ?

My apologies, I'll simplify the question and add more info below. =)

**What is the maximum ac speed that ax network adapters are able to achieve while connected to ac routers?

Seemingly all consumer grade networking hardware is/has been backwards compatible with previous Wi-Fi (802.11) technologies (eg. a, b, g, n and ac) and ax shows no different in that regard.

However ac hardware wasn't a single speed with over a dozen speeds ranging from ac450 (433 Mbits) all the way to ac5300 (5334 Mbits), faster than a lot of newer ax hardware!

Most consumer grade hardware seems to be ac1900 and under, and as the speeds increase, each becomes more and more expensive with fewer fewer options, Especially consumer grade options.

But no ac speed is ever listed, everything I see on the topic only says says ax is backwards compatible with a, b, g, n, ac etc. Even with some ac speeds faster than some ax offerings...

SO... My more focused question, now that I've hopefully set it up more clearly..

** Will ax3000 adapters (2976Mbits) achieve the correct speed when connecting through ac5300 routers (5334Mbits), is there a set max ac speed for ax hardware closer to most consumer hardware which is also slower than all ax speeds, or can it connect only as fast as its rated, though it has 4x more throughput etc. than the dated ac wifi technology?

The TX3000E adapter for example -- https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/pci-adapter/archer-tx3000e/#specifications ALSO has a max AC data rate of 1734Mbit. So if you are sitting in the same room as the router you could probably get that data rate. That means you could have 900Mbit throughput.
Put 1 sheetrock wall between the adapter and router, you might only get an 800Mbit link rate. WIFI in the real world is not that predictable.
