read your mainboard manual and make sure you plugged the cpu fan into the correct port

use what ever utility comes with your mainboard to read the cpu temp, that's what i suggest atleast.

um my mb didnt come with any utilities. thats y im lost. and i know which fan is which but i still wanna know my temp.

do a search for an application called Motherboard Monitor. It uses your system's sensors and keeps track of your fan speeds, core system temp, mobo temp, chip temp, voltages, etc.

The only sure fire way I have seen to get accurate temps is directly through the bios. Those dumb third party programs are inconsistent. You would think that they pull their data from the same place but that is definately not the case. In my bios it is the PC Health Status which gives me the CPU temp.

The stupid utility that comes with my MSI mobo reads 38-39 no matter what I do to it. Worthless!
