Whats the best?

Hi all,
Iam looking at possibly replacing my 19" Phillips 109, can run this oldie at 1600x 1200 x 32 refresh 85, highest it can do is 140. Its 4 years old and cost a lot of money back then. But after checking out a few top range flat screens at a few stores in person, I'm not entirely sure that they are any better in picture quality. So could someone explain why flat screens etc are the way to go and is it really worth upgrading yet?

Just new @ everything!

Flat screens are popular for the *obvious reasons* that they look cool, are expensive (yes that in of itself is a reason - just look at Tommy Hilfiger) and the only practical reason: and 18" fpm is a helluva lot small/lighter than a 19" crt.

Weight is not an issue, actually stopped a burgular taking it, was too heavy for the little guy. (Size of the window limiting)..lmao
Very bulky and weighs a heap, but its been excellent so far. I looked at the Phillips 21" but decided on the 19" basically better resolution. Bigger is not allways better.

So I can safely say to upgrade is to keep up with the Jones's so to speak!

From my perspective - it pretty much is.

Anyone disagree?

There are some cheaper monitors that are NOT perfectly flat, but it is as close you can get to flatness without actually buying a more expensive flat monitor. Flat monitors help to ensure each text and image on screen is even all around, from corner to corner. Howerver, there are also non-flat monitors that does the same thing very well. Whether its worth upgrading really depends on you. Do you have the money? What do you use your computer/monitor for? Is your current monitor still working great for you? Ask yourself some of these question, and let us know what you think.

Use the following programs: CAD,photoshop, paintshop, photoimpact, business, some games, basically photo work is the main thing. Maybe I'm just use to it, but it works ok. Was wondering if at all there was that much difference? I have seen some so called topline flat screens and I dont think they are any better except as Peach said they are flat!
Oh and money isnt the issue, good quality and features are what I look for.

hmmm...thats still a difficult call.
But personally, since your working with alot of graphics (and also since you said money is not an issue), you might lean towards getting a new flat screen monitor. The differences you will see depends on how 'round' your original monior is. This is just my opinion. Maybe you should hear what other people have to say before making your final judgement. BTW--you said you went 'window-shopping' for flat monitors. Have you actually seen how they performed with graphics and photos???
