Get a better gun and use VATS where you can. The 9mm pistol is about the weakest weapon in the game if I remember right. The condition of the gun also matters for accuracy.

Just got Payday 2 as it was on offer, wasn't expecting much as it had average official reviews but I always wondered about the high user reviews. Now I've played it with two friends I can say it is really fun. Lots of replayability and an impressively original concept for these times. At the heart of it is a bit similar to Left 4 Dead (4 player co-op, intelligently managed waves of enemies) but below the surface there is so much more to it. You and four friends can make completely different but complimentary character builds and keeps things interesting with so many options for skills and equipment.

On the Mad Max segue, (Very minor SPOILERS!) I highly rate Fury Road. Mel Gibson would have been awful in it and the cast are really good. Really it is a two hour chase movie but the director has managed to turn that into consistently gripping stuff whilst telling a surprisingly comprehensive story. There are some little touches that just make it great. The whole 'witness' ritual is fun but best of all is the 'Rock Herald of War' which is a name I just made up for one of the best side characters I have seen in a long time. Little touches like those just make it that little bit more memorable.

Hehe, are you sure he wasn't playing a Werellama? I have thankfully not seen those sparkly films 😉. That kind of tripe makes me wish for the alpaccalypse 😀.

Hehe, yes I did Gman, I just loved it, and the way they used the music to slowly build up tension and urgency as it got louder.
I want a guitar/flamethrower combo!

Well I finally understood how to repair weapons, lol. The condition is at it's near best right now.
Let's see, I've got a varmint rifle, a 10mm pistol and a revolver too, I think. I came upon an incinerator, but it left me over cumbered. I'll go back and get it later.

I find that using melee weapons does the job of killing everyone in seconds, even if I don't have much skill points assigned to them. But it's only good for indoor combat.

Short answer: Mass Effect Trilogy, good gameplay, awesome lore, and a semi-enojayble ending (even with the flaws it left me satisfied somehow)

Long answer: I love the mass effect trilogy, i also love halo for its lore and gameplay, i'm really liking the epic battle of planetside 2 and many other games, hahaha, i guess there are many good games out there.

I bloody hate VATS. But that's why it's there, to suit different audiences.
Want real time combat? Don't use VATS.
Want turn based combat? Use VATS.

I use a mix. VATS is handy when you are in a jam or in dealing with enemies that take 100 rounds to bring down. Like deathclaws and those damn cazadors! I hate cazadors lol.

Totally with you on the Mass Effect series as my all time favorite too. The Fallout and the Elder Scrolls games are close though.

VATS is part of the Fallout universe like it or not. There will probably never be a Fallout game without some version of it. It's pretty easy just to not push the v button if you don't like it that much though. 😉

I'm starting to enjoy the combat now. But only because I'm using more melee weapons instead of guns. They really do get the job done a lot quicker.
VATS is pretty useful when you're low on health and you desperately need to a kill.

i have a ps3 for my sports dynasties, but PC gaming is where I spend most of my time. The games I play vary depending on what I'm in the mood for, but the ones I am addicted to are:
Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion (RTS)
Tropico 4 (RTS/Builder)
Warthunder (MOBA/WW II Dog Fighting/Tank Battles) (I only fly)

I managed to finish the three Arkham games (all fantastic by the way, even Origins which I was skeptical about after the reviews) right before Arkham Knight dropped, but I didn't get Knight before it was pulled off Steam. I didn't want to buy it in the state it was in, but it was a bummer nonetheless. From there I started:

Dishonored - seems good but didn't pull me in off the bat
Fallout New Vegas - played a lot of FO3 but never got this for some reason. I like the way New Vegas starts; the story seems like it will be good.
Farcry 3 - great, can't believe I didn't play this sooner
Dark Souls - been playing Bloodborne for fun so I figured I'd start this too
Metro 2033 Redux - awesome, really excellent story so far
FEAR - haven't been able to get it to work on Win 10, troubleshooted quite a bit to no avail 🙁
Witcher 3 - most played on the list, great

Yea I went crazy on a summer sale after I built my rig; the backlog of games I need to play is ridiculous.

I'm really considering the new MGS; it looks great. I read a bit on the microtransactions and the outrage that's caused, but I think I will just be interested in the story. I'm a little worried that I'll be lost because I haven't played the other games. Any insight? I can maybe do some reading on the story to minimize the confusion.

Beyond that I think the only upcoming games on my radar are Arkham Knight at re-release and Fallout 4. I do want to pick up Farcry 4 once I finish 3 and Middle Earth as well.

I've become addicted to Borderlands 2 and FPS games in general since moving to PC this summer. On consoles I never played them, but playing them with a mouse and keyboard feels so perfect. My favorite game to play with friends at the moment is Magicka. Man that game is fun and Bundle Stars has it and all DLC for only 3.99 USD. That is highway robbery. It's no fun without friends though, so you need some friends lol.

The only must have titles I need before the year is out are Fallout 4 and MGSV.

One of my favorite parts of the Fallout games is the console. I always use the money cheat and the bobby pin cheat. Same thing with the Elder Scroll games. It's just too much of a pain in the ass to go farm for gold or caps and lockpicks.

The first 3 FEAR games were great. FEAR 3 is only worth playing if you pay less than $4 or $5 but I wouldn't pay more. The first FEAR has a well known issue with Logitech keyboards and mice using their SetPoint software. Could that be your problem?

There's a lot more than just VATS that I don't like about FO. The skill system is an annoying grind, as is doing the ridiculous side missions to try and gear up better. The non VATS combat is extremely clumsy as well, and the model animation is pretty bad.

I really don't get why FO is so popular. It's one of the most overrated games out there really.

Between Fallout 3 and New Vegas I probably have wasted over 400 hours and if you told me it was over 500 hours I wouldn't be surprised since my first 6 or 7 playthroughs of Fallout 3 were on Games for Windows live and not tracked. I find all those things you think of as annoying to be part of the charm. Since I just finished the 3 GOTY edition I'm actually thinking about having another go at New Vegas before 4 is released.

About to start downloading Wolfenstein: The New Order. 45GB. Might be the largest game I've ever downloaded. Going to take all night with my "high speed" 18Mb/s ATT crap connection.

Just saw this, The Humble store has Telltale games on sale. I've played the Walking Dead games and Game of Thrones and they are great games and even better if you are a fan of the shows/books.

I didn't even know they did a Jurassic Park game. Might have to get that and The Wolf Among Us. Although I need new games like a hole in the head. 😛

Wolf Among Us was great; couldn't put it down.

Twilight Princess is such a fun game. I have it on GCN and have never beat it yet. I know I passed the sand and ice temples, it's been a while (probably 3-4 years) so I'm not exactly sure where I am now. But yeah, great open-world game, great story, combat, and puzzle solving. You have to be patient to play that game!

Today I mostly play Call of Duty, Age of Empires, some Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Assasin's Creed.

LOL, I would think it would be the strange humor, setting, and enemies, rather than the lack of polish, but whatever floats your boat as they say.

I decided to take a nostalgic trip backwards and fire up Hitman: Codename 47 and Stranglehold while waiting for Mad Max. Hitman 1 reminds me of why I generally don't go back very far when revisiting games, many are very unrefined. Stranglehold on the other hand is a good arcade shoot em up, if you don't mind the UE3 textures flickering badly in spots.
