New Vegas is such a great game. Did you get all the DLC packs with it? They really add to the experience. As far as companions go EDE >>> Dogmeat. 😛

Yeah, I do have the DLCs installed. Most of them when I approached it, required me to be a higher level before I could begin.
So I'm probably gonna wait till the main quest is over, like what I did with Oblivion.
I've got Boone as my companion right now. He's one hell of a spotter. He took down three bandits in three shots before I could even get my gun out.

You can have EDE or Rex as well as a humanoid companion in New Vegas. And Boone kicks ass with that sniper rifle so he's a good companion.

Just picked up the Tom Clancy Humble Bundle.

I currently play The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt (RPG), and Heroes of Newerth (MOBA). Anyone played (or is playing) Mad Max right now? I heard it was cool.. like to try it, too.

The reviews as of now, are okay for Mad Max. I kinda thought it would reach Shadow of Mordor level of scores and craziness, but I guess it hasn't, especially since it's releasing at the same time with MGS V.

But I'm definitely going to play this one. I'm a fan now of Max and the lore.

Started MGS5.

Btw I completed Witcher 3 recently. Here are my opinions if anyone wants to know.

+ Better than Witcher 2
+ Story and characters are better than Skyrim's
+ Gwent , a surprisingly good card game. Actually this is the best thing about Witcher 3

- The choices that decide the ending of the game are stupid for 2 reasons: The choices themselves are stupid and secondly the dialogue menu options are in short hand and ambiguous. The ending itself isn't bad but the choices that decide the ending are stupid.

- Bugs are still present even after so many patches. I never encountered an annoying bug in Skyrim.

- Leveling up mechanism is not great. The developers intends that the player completes the main story first then goes on with optional quests. The whole point of an RPG game is to level up through side quests to defeat the main boss of the main story. There won't be enough motivation to do side quests after completing the main story.

- There is no verticality in level design. Of course there are mountains and hills and sea beds to explore but it still feels flat. There was always a 'feel' of climbing a mountain in Skyrim which isn't present in Witcher 3. The level design is also flat in the sense that there is no complicated structures.

- Equipment has a minimum level requirement. So you can't equip something if you happen to find something great. Also there are diagrams for making equipment and some has 4 levels- normal, enhanced, superior, mastercrafted. You can only make the mastercrafted version if you have the superior version, etc. Basically a linear game in an open world.

- Details like hairworks on animals are negligible to the eye since the camera is so far behind the player.

All the optional quests: side, contract, treasure, ? quests. And of course they have less and less reward in that order. Main quests give the Highest XP points. Late in the game I tried some contract and it gave me +1XP and it wasn't even a low level contract.

Yeah, story missions give the most, contracts give the next best. I think if you're much higher up in level, and do a small level contract, you get smaller XP. Never received that low though. Was the 'suggested level' grayed out or green?

The loot in some of the '?' were pretty good actually. If you already have come across the various Witcher gears, then yeah, the '?' one would suck. But I came across some good ones.

Most underwhelming part about the treasures or loot in this game was the ones offered by the Blacksmiths through side quests.
The sword from Hattori was dull. I thought I was receiving a really good sword, but I was disappointed. The stats were much lower than from my own at that time. Only the dwarf blacksmith's armor was good enough, though it needed a higher level. But I only wore it for like an hour before I found something better. The sword you receive from an Craite was was supposed to a huge deal. I took a look at those stats and sold it a minute later. lol. I hated to do that though...

Yeah the equipment rewards and drops were poorly designed. I always found something better on the road before receiving a mission reward. The developers were too focused on story and graphics but didn't invest much time in RPG elements. They probably designed it for the mass market rather than hardcore RPG fans. And the bugs just ruin the experience more.

It's their first open world RPG game. We should commend them on their first effort and cut them some slack. Devs at bethesda are much more experienced with this stuff.

These bugs you mention, can you give an example? I didn't get any bugs on my play through. Nothing too serious that is. I had this happen to me. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CiFNQO_igw)
Nothing serious otherwise.

There aren't bugs in the main story missions. They are in optional quests like the second statuette. I went to Triss but the cutscene just doesn't trigger. There are other quests that are bugged like this. A particular event won't trigger and you can't progress the quest. Achievements are also not unlocking. I finished the game and didn't get the finish the game at any difficulty achievement. I do commend them for making a better game than Witcher 2. Graphics wise its great. But it is no way near the top of the line games.

btw I am enjoying MGS5. Amazing level design. Stealth is better than Splinter Cell's and much harder. Very dynamic too. Performance is good. Only thing bad is that there is quite visible aliasing.

I've spend hundreds of hours in TERA(NA by EME) and Payday2 recently...and I doubt I'll stop spending a few hours every day on either one.

Good god, there's nothing quite like the shenanigans that happen when you're playing a multiplayer game with some good friends.

Don't know, if anything I'm growing increasing skeptical about this game. It seems to average only about 7/10 from review sites, and most say the same thing, too repetitious. The last one I read said even the missions aren't interesting enough.

I was hoping it would have more to do than just scavenging, brawling, and vehicular battles, but it's looking like the gameplay might be as barren as the world.

Finally got the 41GB that is Wolfenstein: The New Order downloaded and I'm really liking the game. I didn't know anything about it really not having played any of the previous games so I didn't know what to expect from it. I'm impressed so far.

It's definitely better (and more challenging) than The Old Blood, plus has more replay value. The Old Blood offers a fair amount of play hours for it's price, but is not as fleshed out.

That said, both show signs of polish issues, but then they're using the ill conceived Megatextures concept that has made Id Tech a 3rd rate engine ever since Rage.

Too bad Carmack after ushering in so many innovations left on such a sour note.

The review sites are all pointing it that way. But as of what I've read from the users, this game is pretty good. They all say it's fun and the repetitiveness aspect seems more like an excuse for a con to put in this game. No one seems to find the repetition, that bad.
Here's a review from a youtuber who I trust.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGmF_mCBEBM&index=2&list=PL62tz83FJJjlEpRdOT63lruxsTA6m1t9s

He gave it a 'buy' rating and said he had a blast playing it despite some of it's problems.

The thing is though, it's not just the repetition that has me skeptical, it's also the lack of gameplay structure and depth.

I'm now getting responses on the questions I've asked on other forums as to whether it has more than just scavenging, brawling, car combat, upgrades, and camp raiding involving those same aspects, and they're answering that, no, it doesn't.

I guess it's not too surprising given it's made by Avalanche, whom make Just Cause, which is now growing very long in the tooth with the same repetitive destroy stuff gameplay, but even Just Cause has structured missions that involve more than that.

Mad Max seems like a lazily made poor man's post apocalyptic version of Just Cause.

You never encountered an annoying bug in Skyrim? Seriously?

Nope. Not saying there weren't bugs. There were bugs of course but you could get past them. In Witcher 3 there is absolutely no way of progressing the mission till the devs fix it.
