When I attempted to install an HP printer, the computer detected it a CD device and now I can not get rid of it to install the printer. How do I get rid of the CD device from my computer?

go to control panel find device manager..

in device manager find the desired device right click and uninstall

when u connect the hp printer, it will ask to install driver u can cancel it, and later install driver from hp....

Try going to My Computer -> Advanced Properties -> Hardware-> Device manager. Right click the CD device, and uninstall. But be carefull with what you do to your system :)

Politely speaking, I think you don't have a clue as to what you are doing, as what you claim is ridiculously impossible. I highly recommend you hand over your system to someone who knows what to do, or give us some more detailed explanation as to what you did, and what happened.

Hello,

I had the same problem with HP Laserjet Pro 200. When attached the printer it recognize it as DVD/CD.
I called HP support and what we did was this:

On your HP Printer you have a Menu Button, click on it to go into the Printer menu, then click on the right arrow until you see "Service" (not web service), click OK, then click right arrow until you see HP Smart Install, if it's ON then put it to OFF.
Windows will recognize your printer.
Good Luck.

Politely speaking, you little shit NOOB.
Another asshole who thinks what he knows its what all there is to know about.
HAHAHAHAHAHHA

It took several sites to find this answer. I'd never seen the Smart Connect option before and turning it off fixed the problem. Thanks for the info!
Ditto on your comment to $hawn as well. People like that really need to stay out of support threads.
