So what are the chances of me being able to run a GTX 870 without CPU bottlenecking or heating issues? Chances are my PSU will be fine with it, but I'm just wondering about possible CPU bottlenecks since the 870 may include an integrated Tegra CPU.

I think the whole idea of putting a Tegra CPU onboard may be to prevent any CPU overhead and/or bottlenecking, the fact that you are wondering if it would cause a "bottleneck" just shows that you don't understand the theory or the terminology.

Yeah that and with Apple pumping in money to TSMC to make more iStuff processors, the AMD & Nvidia put together cannot match what Apple might offer TSMC.. Maybe its time for the graphics companies to look towards samsung or globalfoundaries or something..

^ i heard that Apple actually wants TSMC to exclusively making chips for them only and they are willing to pay for it but TSMC refuse the offer. i think TSMC are more thinking about long term rather than short term profit. most likely such move will sour their relation with their current customer. just in case they can't meet apple demand on time in regards new process shrink Apple can stop using TMSC and go for other fab company that can offer what they need. that time TSMC might have a bit of problem to convince people to use their fab to fill in the hole left by Apple because how they treat their customer in the past

as for samsung and Glofo maybe GPU maker can look Glofo as alternative but i don't think it will be the case for Samsung. GPU is very complex and they say one of the very reason Nvidia pretty much still using TSMC was because there are no other fab that can do what TSMC able to do with GPU silicon. some even said that even intel might not be able to match TSMC in that regard. also Nvidia is one of TSMC primary customer. there are talks in the past that nvidia considering to use samsung to fab their tegra chip because of TSMC constraint capacity. a few weeks later TSMC giving extra 'space' for nvidia in expense of other company capacity so nvidia can meet their need.

Hmm.. Then its good.. Im not an apple fan anyways.. Coz AFAIK TSMC is the only fab that's for 20nm.. Glofo is at 28 and Intel is still developing.. So basically TSMC as the advantage that apple has when it released 64bit chips.. But there's the flip side..smaller silicon is tougher and more expensive.. So far it has been improving.. Now its at a break even point.. So mostly the speculation is that the industry will be stuck at around 28-22nm for a while till a solution is found.. Intel said that silicon is almost dead and there are other methods..and one of the method I am finding hard to remember, made a processor at 200 GHz around 1995-1997.. I mean when silicon was at its beginning.. Hope that's true..

I can't wait for the 800 series, it's taking too long, so I ordered a EVGA GeForce GTX 780 6GB SuperClocked w/ EVGA ACX Cooler. The extra memory will be useful when I upgrade to a 4K monitor.

Doesn't the 680 consume more power than the 770..?? you are running a 550w power supply..

I'm still going to try and hold out for 20nm but it will still be interesting to see what Maxwell is like on 28nm, especially if it does get repeated on 20nm as then direct back to back comparisons could be made to see what improvement (if any) the smaller node is used for. From what I've read you get either better power efficiency or higher speeds from 20nm, so Maxwell on 28nm should be interesting but I will still try to hold off any purchasing until 20nm turns up in the shops.

x60 is mid range cards. we won't heard about them not until x80 and x70 launch first.

personally i think nvidia will never make 790. for dual cards they already have titan z. but for nvidia skipping dual cards for consumer is not that strange. 400 series doesn't have dual GPU either.

Just buy an EVGA high end GPU, they have a program called 'step-up' which allow you to upgrade just by paying the difference in money (between 0 and 90 days). You can buy a 780 now and upgrade to 880 later.

yeah, if its in the 3 onths, which probably wont be. i tought the exact same thing on the 15 of may and there i am with less than a month left for 800series to come out, bah...

Don't think that it's applicable in India..

I doubt that, EVGA are not very good with promises or contracts.
