Newegg's been out for a while. Nothing on Amazon. Zipzoomfly is out. Tiger Direct is out. Does anyone have any ideas, or just wait a few weeks for supply?

Thanks

@Flowers88: thats a million dollar question. I'm hunting for a 5850 too, but can't seem to find them anywhere. Tigerdirect and Amazon had a Diamond HD 5850 for a while, but I hesitated as I wanted Sapphire. If I find a Diamond now, I'll take it since they're still in reference stage so brand really doesn't matter at this point.

PS - If HD 5850s are available for a while more, I'll probably just take the GTX 275. I don't see Dx 11 games becoming mainstream for about 8-10 more months.

except 5850 is best price to performance to price to power consumption.

good luck m8 😀 5850 is also 1.5 times faster than GTX275.

5850 is also the best card available now 😀

correct me if im wrong

I don't know exactly what time the egg posts their new stock, buy try popping on at say just after midnight and see of you can sniper one.

Jack, I refreshed the page for the 5850's on the egg pretty much all day. The Diamond 5850 came into stock at about 7pm, and five minutes later the HIS 5850 came into stock, HIS being cheaper I pulled the trigger on it. I think the time they post is random, or at least it seems that way from my experience. If I were you Flowers, I'd definitely check as periodically as you can.

If anyone is in Canada that is looking, I just ordered 2 of this card: http://www.extreme-pc.ca/showproduct.asp?productid=373737 They also have the 5870 Sapphire, and 5850 Asus card available. If you go to the front page, on the right the have a zero-day deal on right now. The 5850 is only $264.99 after a $15.00 instant savings. i've never ordered anything from them before, but they are listed with the BBB Canada. I will post back after recieving them.

They ship to the US too. I was tempted to buy the sapphire 5850 from them, as it is the one I've been looking for, but shipping was going to cost $30 so I guess I'll just wait to order it from within the states.

The search continues. I snapped up one yesterday only to be sent an email by customer service later on that they had oversold and had to cancel my order. Keeping an eye out again for one that isn't $50-60 overpriced. If it wasn't for the noise factor, it makes the 5870 look more appealing @ ~375 compared to 5850's now at ~300-330 😛

@flowers: ideally you should be paying 280 bucks approx for the 5850 but if you've resigned to paying 300-330, you can get it from extreme-pc.ca incl. shipping. The great thing is, they're selling Sapphire cards which are among the best

Whoops, my bad. Thats supposed to be 280.

Amazon.com prices (includes free shipping):

Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 $ 259.99
XFX RADEON HD 5850 $ 259.99
Visiontek RADEON HD 5850 $ 259.99
Powercolor RADEON HD 5850 $ 269.99

Newegg.com Prices

ASUS EAH5850/G/2DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 5850 $259.99
XFX HD-585A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5850 $289.99
POWERCOLOR AX5850 1GBD5-MDH Radeon HD 5850 $279.99

So, when availability is not a problem, yes, you should be paying $280 tops for the 5850. Since, availability is very restricted, the few stores that have the 5850 as of now are overpricing it to $300+.
