Welcome to the forum!

So investing any kind of money into such outdated platform is a bad idea. Even the budget 200GE (Ryzen) would easily outperform that A10-7870K. Not sure what your budget is but something like this would be such a better option.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Athlon 200GE 3.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI - B450M PRO-M2 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Team - Vulcan 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $169.97
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

A buddy of me was suggesting somthing like this already, but I wasn't to sure about it. it was kinda like swapping my whole build and wasn't to stoked about that. Do you think it would be smart if I used a Ryzen 7 1700X instead? i can get that cpu for about 20 bucks.

Wow, that is dirt cheap! So yea that would be a massive improvement over your current CPU & that A10. Just be sure to pair it with a B350 or B450 motherboard and the memory needs to be fast so 3000mhz is recommended as it can make like a 20 FPS difference in gaming compared to slower DDR4 like the 2133 kits.

You will need a video card to use that CPU, as it has no integrated GPU. I would suggest a gtx 750ti, gt1030, or rx550 as a display adapter, capable of light gaming, but mostly for getting windows up and working with modern drivers.
I am running a gtx 970 at the moment so that isn't a big problem. But I sometimes put my gpu in a different less powerfull pc for hdmi output, i guess that won't work anymore?
