which is faster mobile Athlon XP 2500 or Athlon 64 3000

I've OC'd the 2500 to run at 2400mhz on a 32 bit capable motherboard (abit NF7-S) and the 3000 is running at 1847mhz on a 64 bit motherboard. Both computers have 1 gig RAM.

Which will operate (seem like) faster?

Depends what you want to do. If gaming is of primary concern, the A64 would kill the xp in that sector. If encoding is what you like to do, they are pretty much even. If ripping CDs is what you do mostly, the Barton is much faster. If all you do is surf the web, listen to music, play DVDs, and perform office apps, then who the hell cares? Buy a K6-2.

my first a64 was a 3700.. my old pc was an nf7 with a mobile 2500 clocked to 2500-2600mhz.. my 3700 at stock blew it away.

What should I use for benchmarking and yes, it's mostly for gaming.
