Hello everybody,

I'm building a Ryzen 7 9800X3D gaming rig now but I'm so undecided between these two:
  1. Galax RTX 5070 Ti EX Gamer Edition 1-Click OC
  2. Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti AERO OC Edition

In my country the retail price for the Galax one is $1250, and $1479 for the Gigabyte one.

Do you think that the extra $230 is worth spending on the more popular and reliable Gigabyte brand or will I be just as happy with the Galax one?

I've never used any Galax products before.

Thanks in advance

no , the extra 230$ is absolutely not worth it .
from all the tests i have seen thus far the galaxy cards are performing decent (around middle of the pack) .
about on par with asus TUF or palit gamerock models .
the absolute worst model of 5070Ti i have seen so far is MSI ventus with fan spinning at 2 400 rpm
with temperatures hitting 70°C while galaxy card maintains below 70°C temperatures with 1 500 RPM
the most quiet cards are msi gaming trio and asus tuf (with quiet bios preset)

the nuance between different AIB partners are quite insignificant. you're paying an extra 200 for absolutely nothing so save that money and buy something else

Whether the extra money for AIB is worth it depends on your needs. I would never pay over $1000 for a 5070 Ti at any rate, you can find them available for less than that if you follow a discord or something that tracks stocks. MSI had a bunch of their $749 models on their site yesterday.

Sometimes the extra money is for minor things that make no difference as far as performance, like RGB and visual enhancements. Sometimes it is for things that do impact performance. I picked up a MSI gaming trio for MSRP, which is still $130 more than their shadow series or other base cards. For me it makes sense because it's one of the coolest and quietest versions and has fantastic heat management. Sometimes I'm gaming late at night and my wife is sleeping, so I don't want it to sound like an airplane. Even under full load with path tracing the fan doesn't get over 50% and the GPU stays in the upper 50's. If I was in a separate room, I probably would have just went with something cheaper. The card also looks absolutely fantastic. So I figured $90 extra for the cooler and $40 extra for the premium look was worth it to me.

I haven't really messed with the speeds much but just from tinkering I found I could get over 20% extra on the GPU clock and push the mem clocks pretty far without any instability and still staying cool. My last card (a base model) would spin up and make a lot of noise if I did that.

One thing I would definitely avoid is paying extra just to have one a week or so sooner. GPUs can last a long time, so be patient.
