Who wants a free 7900gt?

hey, i know i posted before but ive been looking at the previous posts, so think i might as well show you my set up.

my current system is:
amd 939 3200+
ddr 1gb (2x512) of kingston ram
6600gt leadtek extreme 128mb
although i have been looking at upgrading i am hesitant now because of amd discontinuing their 939 socket processors and it would be cheaper to buy a whole new mobo + plus cpu than to try find a 939 dual core processor.
even tho this way would be cheaper have to then still buy new ram as my current ram is the older ddr which isnt supported by new mobo's.
i am currently studying full time at uni, so i don't have much time available, let alone to work,
this would sincerely help in the upgrade/getting by process at the moment.
I live in australia, but i am more than willing to pay for the postage.
new games are playable, but on minimum settings which kinda defeats the purpose of playing new games.

Not long ago, had to replace fans. Older ones worn out and were too noisy.
 
Still here Pete , i hope you make the best choice there is , but don't forget i'm still here , i hope that you include me in the list from what you will chose someone . Just so that you know , i wish there were more people like you , cause there are many poeple who don't use good stuff and just keep it in their closet , hope this brings a new era of PC sharing between those who have and those who need !! ,best of luck for all, including me :))!!!!!!!

Whoever receives the card is a lucky person. Everyone else? Well, maybe there'll be another card give-away.
 
well, i'm going to upgrade to a core 2 quad in the next two months so... :)

anyway, my friend is currently running an acient p4 processor on a mobo from asus😛4GPL-X (pci express) with 512 mb of ram
and currently, his 6600gt really struggles in oblivion (like an other poster said)
the thing is, he doesn't have the money for an upgrade now and it will take another year to convince his parents to buy a new pc for him, if he has good grades :)
as his birthday is coming soon, it would be the perfect present :)

if you want proof that i really am going to buy a new pc for myself and so my story is thrue, i will post some pictures of my online bank account, with 2500€ on it (i'm a student so for me that's a lot of money :wink: )

Well, I am off to work. Congratulations in advance to the recipient, make that card zing! And thanks to Pete, in my few years here lurking at THGF, I do not think I have ever seen a display of generosity as such.
 
Can I be the latest entry?!?

I am 15, have an fx5500 right now in my 6 year old Dell running windows ME. Just mustered up enough money to semi-build a somewhat simple Pci-e build. Only thing is, i don't have enough money for both a Core 2 Duo and a mid range g-card.
Unlike most other peeps here, i dont have an income, and have something called college in a couple of years that just *MIGHT* put me into debt.

I have dial-up, so ill try to get a couple of pics, but it takes too long for that many. :cry: :lol:

I want to say again I really wish I could give everybody a card, there are definitely a lot of deserving people around here.

I am a disabled vet, married, have 2 kids, total yearly income is approx 35K. My wife is in school and ALL our money goes to mortgage, bills, daycare, food and insurance. I have a Asus A8n32 SLI Deluxe, AMD 3800, 1 GB old Kinston PC2700 valueram and a GeForce 6600. I do not see me having $ for an upgrade for at least 2-3 years (wife graduates). I can post pictures after I get off work.

EDIT Sorry it lacks dust, I try to keep it clean as I know I have to keep this running as long as possible. As mentioned before, we have NO spare $ at this time for "luxuries".



I am a veteran myself, although (thank God) I never was wounded beyond needing a couple dozen stitches in my back. I definitely have a soft spot for fellow Vets.

Not to mention you are one of the few people that meets all of the limitations and suggestions.

1. You live in the U.S.

2. Authentic pictures of your old (not really dusty) rig.

3. You put your wife and kids before your video games, a damn good reason not to buy one yourself.

4. You've got not 1 but 2 PCI-e slots.


There are other reasons too, like you didn't PM me a million times and try to work out a special deal like so many others did. :roll:

Anyway congrats dewd, you just won a video card! PM me with your mailing address.

I would have to think on it, but later on, maybe i can do the same with my 7900GT, but knowing me, it might be a difficult decision. 😳

Lordaardvark, I can't agree with the "jury" idea. Pete is doing a good deed and it is up to him what he does with his property. No one should have any say other than Pete. I merely pointed out what I might do in the same situation, but any and all decisions should be Pete's alone.

i didn't want it to be like that. i was hoping that there was some kind of way to make it easier on Pete, but obviously my way had some large shortcomings. i guess i didn't realize how it may sound 😀 but, Pete did it himself, read through all 10 pages and a gazillion posts... bet that took a while!

but, anyway, congratulations Space1Monkey on your new card! i hope you enjoy it. and, again, Pete, you'll certainly go down in THG history. this has got to be the coolest thing i've seen on here in like... ever.
