Question Why are no Seasonic models included in the 2023 recommendations?

Unfortunately, the comments of this article were locked from a previous iteration. Otherwise, I think this might've been asked at the time: why are no Seasonic models included?

Incidentally, I'm eyeing a Corsair HX1000i that's currently selling on Newegg for $225 (after $10 instant rebate).

It's more than I currently need, but I like the iCue feature (even supported under Linux!) and it seems forward-looking to get a PSU with ATX 3.0 + PCIe 5.0. 10-year warranty, FTW!

grumbles about repeat posts...

Have they released anything new this year?

seems so: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/seasonic-prime-tx-1600-power-supply-review

Appears to be only review by us this year. I don't have anything to do with front page or I wouldn't have grumbled before (lets not talk about that, we can't do anything about it). I don't have an answer to your question apart from maybe 1st negative in that review.

Solution
Not all of those models are ATX 3.0 either... or even new so... so reviewed this year might not be a restriction

Wonders why we have a Best Mid-Level RGB PSU category... rgb on PSU fans sends bad ideas... why do you want rgb underglow on Case? At least its a Corsair.

Finally, one of the significant changes that the ATX12V v3.0 spec brings is the addition of a 12+4 pin PCIe connector to every PSU with more than 450W max power. This means that PSUs lacking this connector won't be compatible with new GPU generations and will soon be rendered obsolete.

Guess that depends how long AMD support the old PSU for. Future will tell I guess. Obsolete for newer PC, but plenty of old ones that still need them. Not like they worthless suddenly cause a new standard exists. They not 5090 grade cards lol.

Not all cases have PSU on the bottom.

As for me, I will disable any RGB it may have.

BTW, the main reason I like Corsair's iCue is the promise of detailed power measurements. I wish more PSUs had this capability and there were a standard protocol for it. I see no reason you couldn't have an I2C wire in the ATX (motherboard) connector block.

Icue has ups and downs. The previous build to current was bugged in that the AIO wouldn't change the fan speed based on custom curves, only the default ones worked. I found this out when CPU would go over 70C and fans would still be running as if nothing had changed. It was a relief when they updated to current build but it has problems too... shows 7900XT cards twice on the dashboard, for instance.
I have it for my AIO & RAM. Before I replaced my keyboard today, it was also for it as well.

Why can't companies (like Seasonic) make truly smart PSUs where you can see total power draw from the entire system as well as make the specs available to the system so that it would make it easier to find the make and model of PSUs that don't have labels?

Do you mean Seasonic-branded PSUs, or just the Seasonic OEM models?

If you're indeed talking about Seasonic-branded, do you have links to reviews or other evidence drawing such comparisons?
exactly the point I was trying (and failing) to make. If Seasonic wasn't extremely confident in their product, they wouldn't be offering ten-year warranties on some models.

I can believe some of the other manufacturers have caught up to (and even surpassed) Seasonic. Let's see what the evidence shows.

One thing I like about PSUs like Corsair's HX1000i is that it's all-digital, kind of like a class -D audio amplifier, I think.

I wonder if it supports firmware updates which actually improve the bench results of the PSU, and not just its management capabilities.
Not to hijack the thread, but I don't understand the point of a digital PSU.

Not going to jump on Seasonic just cause they don't have a good ATX 3 PSU yet, they been really good until now. One of the brands you can normally rely on. Pretty good chance they be back.
Only reason I don't have one now was price when I updated. My last few have been from them.

Not to hijack the thread, but I don't understand the point of a digital PSU.
ask about it in a thread then.

I was too soon in saying Icue was fixed as well...

You could link it here, in case anyone reading this was curious. It seems to be this one:

also didn’t know that seasonic didn’t have a good ATX 3.0 PSU. I had just assumed that they had released their own high quality version when everyone else was releasing theirs.
@Why_Me linked two Seasonic PSUs (one Gold, the other Platinum) which implement ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0.

@Colif , feel free to mark this question as "answered", if you can. I don't see the voting buttons. Best answer seems to be post #2, although I think the point of the Best Power Supplies 2023 article is to say "if you're buying a PSU in 2023, here's what you should consider", rather than a roundup of PSU released in 2023.

Anyway, thanks for the info, everyone!

Why_me is on my ignore list, so I wouldn’t have seen it.

Okay, let's please keep any drama out of this thread.
I apologize, I wasn’t trying to create any drama. On the topic at hand, Seasonic must be a quality PSU brand, otherwise, I wouldn’t see so many sponsorships with tech YouTubers.
https://hwbusters.com/psus/thermaltake-toughpower-pf3-1200w-psu-review/10/ for example. Seasonic isn't even in the top 10. Not that the Vertex is a bad PSU but others are better and usually for a lower price.
There are cheaper seasonic PSUs. For example the seasonic focus GX 850w in my sig is $119. The seasonic PSU in the comparison you linked was $200. My seasonic PSU is A-tier, but I couldn’t find the vertex on the tier list, but I probably missed something.
