Question Why are some games not using 100% of the GPU and the CPU?

Hello community,

i have following problem in some games. In some games like DOTA 2 my avg fps is around 80 when discord is opened which is nothing for that game. My GPU only uses around 20-30% for that game ( View: https://imgur.com/a/Qs6Rj4n
I play Dota 2 on Fullscreen with max settings.
Apex Legends works perfect for me with 130 avg fps and almost max settings View: https://imgur.com/a/zKgR2PK
The game runs on fullscreen as well.
Playerunkowns Battlegrounds works fine but could be better as well. From 80-120 fps with medium settings ( View: https://imgur.com/a/NIqAKX0

So I have checked the heat of my GPU and after getting used for 100% with benchmark it is around 82° C. After 10 Minutes of benchmarking with 98% CPU usage my CPU is around 80° C. These are the specs of my pc:

CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 2600X)
GPU (NVIDIA MSI 1080 8GB)
RAM (G.SKill Ripjaws V 2x8GB DDR4-3200)
Motherboard (Asus Prime A320M-K)
MAIN Monitor I play games on (MSI Optix MAG27C 144hz)
SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 500GB)

Is there a way to boost the usage for some games?

Closing the 14 tabs in Google Chrome while gaming might help. This comes up quite often. There are resources in the OC which may not always show up on task manager that can limit your numbers. For example, a lot of threads with this same premise start out with "running Discord". Not saying that is the sole cause or your problem, but you might try closing Discord and Chrome to see if your numbers improve.
