Why my video card memory changes when i put another 2 gb ram in the memory slot

my video card memory is 1gb and i have 2 gb ram. my os is vista ultimate 64 bit editon. when i put another 2gb ram in the slot of ram my ram became 4gb. and my video card memory change also it became in 2.7gb.
help me plss to analyze whats the problem in my video card..

it works on a basis like turbocache...

this has been put in by microsoft and nvidia, not sure about ATI, but im sure its the same

but my video card is inno 3d 9600 gt ddr3. the turbocache only supported is geforce 7300 and geforce 6200. and my video card is 1gb the turbocache is working only in 128 mb to 256 mb.

no windows 7 expands this to help it deal with bigger textures..

turbocache was found to be quite successfull on low end cards so they expanded it to the rest of the range.

its just a away of getting video cards to perform just that little bit better.. whilst the memory is not being used, it might as well be used elsewhere to make system speed ups.
