[SOLVED] Why won't my Optiplex 580 mobo recognize my Phenom II x4 840T

I am trying to upgrade my CPU to the AMD Phenom II x4 840T, and from what I can tell it is compatible with the Dell Optiplex 580... but it shows up as an unknown AMD processor, and only runs at 800mHz. Shows up as 800mHz in CPU-Z too, but is at least able to identify what processor it is. Motherboard is flashed to the latest BIOS, A08. Fresh install of Windows, everything else seems fine. Did I miss something and the processor is just incompatible?

I am using an old Dell Precision T3500 case that was gutted, so using the PSU that came with it, 8gb RAM and a 1tb SSD... if any of that matters. Very new at this, thought it would be fun to make a machine out of some spare parts... but it is turning into quite a hassle. Any help would be appreciated!

Did bios id the cpu? what the cpu cooler?
if you have the latest bios and it not recognize the 840t, it is not supported

No, BIOS does not ID it. Stock AMD CPU cooler/heatsink combo. Thanks for the reply. Guess I'll still just have a lot of spare parts!
