Question Will having 4 of a certain ram model not work with my motherboard?

Hello,

I currently have two 8gb ram sticks in my motherboard and I'm looking to get more. The type I have is the Corsair Vengeance LPX and the QVL list for my motherboard is here . It says under the part number that the current sticks I have won't be supported by the DIMM socket if I use more than two. My question is will it straight up not work with 4 or will it work just not under max ability. It also says "optional" by socket support on the list but I'm not sure what that means exactly. If anyone can help me out, that would be great. Thanks. Also, my motherboard is the ROG Strix B350-F Gaming .
