Windows XP, I think it's version 4.7.2009. Try to connect
Windows Messenger, get msg. NET messenger service is not
available but in reality is working fine. Check TOOLS,
OPTIONS, CONNECTIONS, and it states I am not connected.
Tried changing to a proxy server, ran Ad-aware, Spybot,
Zone Alarm every day and no luck on the viral end. Problem
in it's second day. Could this hopefully just be an update
problem? If so, to what? Jacki

Greetings Jacki,

Would you mind installing MSN Messenger 6.2 (http://messenger.msn.com/download), the reason
being, MSN Messenger will give you an errorcode which we can use to more accurately see what
your problem is.

Jonathan,
I've a similar problem. I can download but get each time at the end of the
install phase an error code 1603. It doesn't matter which version Windows
Messenger, Messenger 6.2
I'd appreciate if you could provide me with some hints to resolve.

Hi Jack.

Sorry if this reply is a bit late but have you tried unloading Zone
alarm to see if Messenger connects.

I've just had a few problems that were fixed by disabling all of the
cookie control features of Zone Alarm Pro.
