WinXP SP2 can't copy branches.inf

WinXP SP2 can't copy branches.inf

Attempted WinXP Service Pack 2 install tody (twice!) on
system with WinXP Home SP1. Stalls and says can't copy
branches.inf file from folder indicated - even though the
file is actually there??

Any ideas/solutions welcome??

Remove 'Read Only' property from branches.inf and branches.PNF
in Windows directory \WINDOWS\inf .

Thank you Carey for that advice.
Having been expelled from the first install after an
automatic download the 'globe/flag' disappeared from my
tray so I can't find the thing to try the install again.
Where is it on my machine- what button/file/spell can I
use to try again. It took hours to download and has now
gone underground in my PC?
