Question Would a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 pendrive with 2 GB/s speed be enough to play portable games from ?

Title.

I was looking for thumb drives when I came across these two results:

https://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/xs2000-external-usb-c-solid-state-drive

They are technically marked as EXTERNAL SSD, although the casing itself is just a regular pendrive (albeit a bit larger than the usual ones). However what I've seen fascinated me: both of them offer up to 2000MB/s read, 2000MB/s write speed, which is incredible for such a small sized device.

What does it mean in reality, can I load some (portable) games onto them (not talking about 2025 titles, but older ones) and play just fine? How about the temperature issue, wouldn't it be a problem? Or the wear and tear of the drive itself for such a heavy task?

Has anyone used/experienced something similar and if so, what were the results? Is it manageable at all or completely unplayable?

Thank you in advance!

P.S.: I'm specifically asking about thumb drive sized devices, not looking for a regular external ssd (2.5 inch).

These have (probably) m.2 drives in them hence the speeds they have, if you put them on a usb 3 port of your PC they will be very fast and the wear and tear wouldn't be an issue, the heat maybe but there aren't a lot of games that will constantly load massive amounts of data and reading should be producing less heat than writing.
If a game will run fine will depend mostly on the game, if it has very large high resolution textures there will most probably be a lot of texture pop in and/or stutters but otherwise it will run fine.
A lot of older games are designed to be played directly from the disc on consoles so they don't need a lot of transfer speed.

You are right, I just had a quick look and found out that a CD will move between 1 (realistically) and 8 megabytes a second, a DVD about 10-25 megabytes per second, compared to those drives its night and day in terms of performance/speed.

So in theory all should be fine, that's good to read!

PC versions of these games will often have higher quality textures and will have to be installed on a hard drive for that reason but yeah, in general it should be fine.
