Write protected files?

I'm trying to pull files off a drive that stopped booting correctly into windows. I've got it in another computer as a slave, but when i try moving files from it to another drive, random files pop up saying that they are write protected and can't be moved or copied anywhere else. These are just document files, not system files. Anyone know why I can't copy them to another drive?

Also, how do I copy my old My Documents files to the new drive? It won't let me access c:/documents & settings/Profile name

Are you logged in as an administrator?
Are the files you are trying to copy currently in use (check taskmanager)?

Yes, I'm logged in as the admin.

No, the files are not in use. they are jpg and doc files.
