[SOLVED] Wrong CPU Chipset for Motherboard

I have a i5-7600K and an Asus H170 Pro Gaming. I know that the mobo is for the older chipset, is this what's causing my performance issues? Thanks!

The H170 will handle your CPU at stock speeds. It is not an overclocking motherboard, so the "K" CPU is wasted compared to a Z motherboard. I don't think the motherboard chipset is the cause of your problems.

Aside from the "K," the 7600 is made for the 200 series chip, so does the 100 series mobo throttle it (you may have included this in your answer, I just want to be sure, sorry).

The 100 and 200 series motherboards both support that CPU -- You can see on the manufacturer's website that it is fully supported -- https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/H170-PRO-GAMING/HelpDesk_CPU/
You should make sure you have the appropriate BIOS version (v 3016 )

You haven't described WHAT performance problem you are having.

I would agree with the other thread that 8GB RAM is just not enough any more for gaming and other applications.
