Dear XFX support. Could you please send me the bios update as well. i have been struggling with the EXACT same problems. and i'm actually getting thrilled now seeing someone finally appears to have a solution.
I even retoured my gpu a couple of months back, but they offered no help.

EDIT:

In one of my last atemt to get rid of the crashing card i flashed an old bios.
015.041.000.000.000000
This one did the trick for me.
3Dmark runs fine now, and no more crasching when playing games.

I have a bios update for the 280X's who experienced this issue, please PM me your Serial # and i will send you the correct bios to fix this issue.

Basically the idle clock states on the GPU are freaking the motherboard out. The bios update simply updates the idle speeds to be a little higher to correct this.

this solution not work, flickering continues after i flash the bios, only in 2d and only the core clock - 300, on core clock 400 - all its good. what to do?

HI XFX support i'm having the same issue, i just bought a new xfx r9 280x and after installing the drivers the screen flickers even when opening the AMD card settings and after some second the screen turns black.

CPU :AMD FX 4300 3.8Ghz
Memory : 2x4 corsair 8gb
