XP & Microsoft Joy Stick

Sounds like a weird question, but has anyone been able to get a Microsoft Sidewinder Joy Stick to run
in Windows XP? I've tried to get the thing going with no luck. I've looked for drivers, but can't seem
to find anything different. XP doesn't recognize it when you plug it in with found new hardware.
When you put in the disk it says that it's not configured for XP. Seems to me that all Microsoft
products should be supported in XP, but I've had no luck with it so far. Any links to trouble shoot it
would be appreciated.

Thanks, RC

Yeah I've got the same question. Stupid Microsoft not even able to run their OWN software....Gonna find a gun and shoot Billy Boy.

I can get the joystick to detect. Go into Controle Panel/Game Controllers and then pick add. Select Sidewinder (Auto Detect) and it will correctly detect the stick. What I need now is to get the stupid Profile software to work. Any ideas?

Quick Note:

If you happen to have an integrated sound card on your mainboard and a PCI sound card:

1.) Be sure the stick is plugged into the PCI sound card.

2.) Disable both the integrated sound card and the integrated game port in the BIOS.

3.) When installing the stick, specify that it must use only the game port on the PCI sound card.

4.) If the stick is USB ... you could try and send Bill Gates a token of your appreciation for the rewarding experience. Like a DoS attack! ;-)
