Xp stops loading

I dont know what happened to my computer, but recently when i start the computer, it would go through the window xp home boot screen then it just goes blank and not reach the desktop. I would have to reboot in safemode, then wait for around 10 mins in savemode, after that i reboot and it would go to the desktop. Its a very funny and annoying situation. and i have no idea what is wrong. Maybe its a software issue. A little help would be awsome, thanks in advance.

go into safemode. start->run-> type msconfig
Uncheck all startup programs. restart and see if it helps.
If not go back into safe mode and try uninstalling some unsed or unknown programs.
If still no help try a repair install.
if still no help, reformat and install clean.

Thanks for the help. i just did a clean install. and now the problem is that i can not install any nvidia graphics driver. everytime i do that. it goes blank after it goes to the window load page, never to desktop. Is my graphic card busted or something wrong with my mobo?
