Your Tech Preview will roll over to the same version as the actual release, on or after July 29.
Can you d/l an ISO for that? Unknown, but probably.

But to continue using the Tech Preview, you must remain a participant in the Insider Program. With all that entails. In effect, being a permanent beta tester.

If you choose to opt out of the Insider Program, either you must go back to Win 7/8, or purchase Win 10 on its own.

When should we know for sure?

Sometime after July 29, 2015.

If I download the ISO as an Insider,it will activate with my Microsoft Windows Insider account,am I right?

According to current info, yes. You must use a Microsoft account to continue using it.

Windows 10 ---! I'll be running it in a VM for the sole purpose of helping any customers who use it, but it's not touching my real hardware. Hopefully 11 will be the new XP, just as 10 is the new ME.

<Let's keep it a little bit clean, shall we?>

There won't be any Windows 11,only an update called Redstone, something like 10.1,if you want.
Until then, the latest build for 10,that Insiders just received,10240...runs extraordinary! (way smoother than Windows 7,8&8.1 at once)
You know me...I'm genuinely sceptic,so I wasn't believing it at the 1st sight, few days later,I'm in love with it.

Except for generalized glitches with the beta, yes.
For instance, my laptop would NOT upgrade past build 10049. Getting ready to wipe and install 10162 and see what happens from there.

You can be upgrading to 10240 as soon as it goes activated and you're using an Insider account.
I don't know if should I say it to you,but don't be scared if the device gets restarted by 3 times on a row due the upgrade process,it is normal.
Auch,I gotta tell you that MS has just stopped the clean install path,as your newly installed build 10162 won't get activated anymore...
That could be a problem or not. (depending on how dirty you want the activation to be)

We'll see how it goes. As said, this is merely a secondary box, in a secondary partition.
If it does, great. If it doesn't, no big loss.

So far with all the fixes Windows 10 seems pretty close(screen saver still stops its self and some other minor things).

I do like Windows 8/8.1's colored(and grey inactive) title bars better than 10's white only title bars.

Taskbar colors are also somewhat limited, but that will not be an issue once users are used to it.

My current grey titlebar(the shade is picked to avoid bugs in the title bars on some inactive windows) setup with a slight theme modification.

On the plus side most things seem to work and it is pretty fast(hope Edge gets ad blocking or something because too many sites have intrusive ads). Builds seem to keep renaming my network share to its location. ohh well 2 seconds to fix.

By the way, when you do it,can you, please, try these steps to activate the 10240 build: (Link removed)
I'm quite curious about what it does...

Moderator edit:

Posting links to sites that detail how to activate Preview copies of Windows 10 (any build) will be removed. Microsoft has stated that they have turned off the ability to activate any installs not currently activated, in order to test the upgrade feature via Windows Update to prepare for the general launch of Windows 10. Sharing the process to try to subvert that decision will be removed, and continuing to do so may lead to additional sanctions on the forum.

I won't update to 10 until someone comes up with a way to stop the automatic update. I live in a rural area and have limited GBs per month. Don't need MS putting me over the limit and costing me an additional fee.

You can stop them via the Command Prompt...using the following command:net stop wuauserv.

Really? That's all? Thank you. I wonder why so many tech writers are unaware of this and preaching death about the auto update......?

Mostly, yes. Although there was a statement the other day about regular users getting updates pushed, controlled by MS.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/07/16/windows_10_will_update_whether_you_like_it_or_not_unless_you_have_enterprise_edition/

Now....what does that actually mean? Who knows.
Is it possible to turn off, without any cmd foolishness? Who knows.

The permanent beta testers will also get new 'versions' pushed, as MS sees fit.

So, there are basically 3 levels of stuff that may get pushed:
1. Security patches. Everyone gets this.
2. Feature updates. According to that article, everyone gets this as well.
3. Version updates. Insider program participants (perm beta testers) get this.
