Since AMD totally botched the announcement of any plans on releasing higher end GPU's that can compete with Nvidia's 2080TI at the CES 2020 event, now I'm willing to give the RX 5700XT a chance. Can I at least play the most demanding games in 1440P on ultra settings at 60-80 frames per second...

My GPU (Winforce 970) seems to be always running in pcie 2.0 mode. When I go to my mobo settings there are only options for pcie 1.0 and 2.0.
From the specs of the motherboard I gather it supports pcie 3.0.
Any idea on how to fix this?
PC:
Asus z97m-plus
Gibabyte Gtx 970 Windforce
Core i3 4160
My problem began when I realized that the CPU cooler that came with my motherboard was inadequate at keeping my CPU from overheating. To remedy this, I purchased a liquid cooler that did exactly what I needed it to, keep the CPU cool while I use my computer.
However, I noticed that...

Hey fellas,
This isn't the usual request as to whether or not it's worth going from a 3570k to a 6600k. The performance boost doesn't seem to be worth the cost as far as I am concerned especially since I am on a moderate budget and will never have a Titan-grade graphics card to pair it with...

I am fairly familiar with safe ranges of cpu temps and I know that my CPU (Intel i7 3770) is running EXTREMELY hot, even at idle. While just sitting around and not under any load the cpu reaches temps of around 45 degrees celsius. I am not doing any sort of overclocking to any of my components...

I need some suggestions on what i should get for a new gaming PC I am going to build. First thing I don't need a disk reader or a hard drive. Id like to spend a lot on my GPU and would like a motherboard that will handle additions and upgrades for years to come. the case i will pick out later...
I have my dad's old machine that has a busted PSU that, at the time, I just decided to replace the whole machine instead of fixing an old machine. However, this might serve as a very entry-level HTPC. $30 or so would get me a new PSU and that might be a cheap way to test the waters.
The...
