2 4 ghz running in 1 7ghz

Hello, i have this 2.4 ghz intel i bought second hand but when i check in the system properties, it says a 1.7 ghz feeder... but i'm really sure it was 2.4 intel... my first guess was the compatibility with the motherboard... am i right? thanks a lot.

Hard to know if you dont post the system specs, we have no idea what chip or mobo you are talking about, out of literally thousands.

You are probably looking at it when it is not under load, hence it is clocking down to save energy. Without knowing what chip I can’t say for sure that’s what’s happening.
