I was seaching newegg for a new processor when I noticed the following disparity:

Socket 754 3200+ 64bit.....$289
Socket 754 3700+ 64bit.....$263.45

They both have the ClawHammer core, and at a glance I couldn't find anything different besides the operating frequency. Common sense would tell me that the 3700+ would cost more than the 3200+ and not the other way around.

Can anybody enlighten me on the situation?

THe higher end AMD 64 chips just had a pretty sizeable price cut, and i know the 3200 wasn't part of that.

So maybe this is what we are left with? buy the 3700 and save yourself some money.

You have got to be kidding. The 3200 should be at least $100 less than that. Even in the far north, where they have 80 cent dollars, the s754 3200 goes for $229can.

Stock issue, the 3200 is more popular than the 3700 and they have less stock of it than the 3700. Most can OC the 3200 to 3700 with little to no effort.

Id just take advantage to the deal an get the 3700.
