Hello, so my system runs on 32bit and I want to upgrade it to 64bit. Is it possible with my pc ?
specs: CPU- Genuine Intel(R) CPU 2140 @ 1.60GHz(overclocked to 2GHZ)
ram: 2.50gb 800mhz
32-bit os
why do want to change, and no, normally you have to reinstall your windows to the 64bit version. You don't have over 4gb of ram, so you don't need 64bit for that, so not sure why you think you need to switch.
If you have 4gb of ram or under 64 bit won't help.
Having a 64bits OS even if you have less than 4GB of RAM does help if you run applications that make use of 64bits instructions: a crypto library doing 64bits math using 32bits emulation will be four times slower than the same library using native 64bits multiplication. Same goes for everything else that use large number integer math but not necessarily much memory.
Check ARK intel if your cpu supports 64bit. I have a Core 2 duo laptop with 2.5G RAM and 64bit win 8.1 is usable but close to memory limit, you might be better with 4GB.
