9600 GT is severly being bottlenecked.

I think most people kick right-footed, so that would be a left ball ache most likely. But I agree, this sounds like the sort of mobo that would inspire a lot of people to kick themselves for buying.

With no applications (other than startup), and the "anti-virus" and indexing software you supposedly cannot kill, what is your CPU utilization? It sounds to me like your system is infukted with poopware. A complete re-install should hopefully rule that out and is worth trying for that reason alone.

Windows Vista has been reinstalled. I'm going to try it now. It did a good job in installing it (I don't want to insult it, they all talk you know!) 😛 .

I'm on a laptop, and I realize how blessed I have it, at least my computer works more than %10 of the time...

Best not to use registry cleaner it has the propensity to stuff the registry in some situations. Best process when installing a new card is to uninstall, reboot, run driver cleaner based on your old GPU, then install the new card.

I don't feel like installing XP...

But DX9 mode does very little to improve it.

Could it be a dieing motherboard? Right before I bought my 9600GT, I had to turn down World in conflict to Medium high.

Or is it something to do with lack of ram?

Can you link me to your comparison page? That score doesn't seem right. The scores you listed there add up to an approximate 3DMark score of 6295.

I don't have a comparsion page, but I do have my real score:

Main test results

3DMark Score 7057 3dMarks
SM 2.0 Score 2950
SM 3.0 Score 3628
CPU Score 1565

Well, the CPU score looks fine. I guess the graphics scores are ok (I'm not sure how a 9600GT is supposed to perform). At any rate, that system should be doing a lot better than it is.

Here's what I'm wondering. You tested your ram and I highly doubt the GPU & CPU is causing the errors. I wonder if the 9600 is causing extra strain on the power system OR if the HD is going bad. Corruption off the bat is worrisome. 3DMark runs fine, just not games. It seems it could be the HD, CD drive, MB, or PSU (I know that doesn't help at all).

So, is my GPU being bottlenecked?

I don't have another SATA hard drive to test. My CD drive wouldn't bottleneck World in conflict in online mode. My motherboard and PSU are prime culprits.

Dude. You've been told a dozen times by a dozen people what your problem is. Atleast get a mobo with 16x and 800MHz ram. You can reuse your cpu, if your strapped for cash. I wouldnt if I were you. You can get a e2180 and a good p35 board for under $180 and overclock to 3.0.

I'm not looking for a higher score. I'm fine with the score. I'm just looking for a playable game. You are the only one who seems to be advocating an upgrade. While a mobo upgrade is desirable, I'm only going to do so if I still can affoard a new videocard afterwords. I don't think its my mobo.

My mobo is bad, but NOT slow. It beats my INTEL pentium 4 from the same era by alot in raw performance.

Are you have trouble with all games? Which ones work which ones dont?

World in Conflict.

My specs:

4000x2+ @ 2.5 ghz
Pcie x16 wired for x8 mode (where my 9600GT is installed )
2 gb of DDR2 633 ram.
550 Watts PSU dual 12 v rail one at 19v one at 18 v.
Windows Vista Ultimate x64 edition

Needs :
Operating systems: Windows XP or Vista (32-bit)
CPU: 2.5 Ghz or Faster (2.8 GHz for Vista)
RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB for Vista)
2.5 GB of free HD Space
Video Card:128 MB Video RAM, DirectX 9.0c Compatible (GeForce 4 MX, Radeon 8500, 9200 Not Supported)
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible

From those specs it looks like your CPU and your ram are holding you back. Not to mention your running Ultimate 64 which taxes your system even more.

I think the CPU specs were for single core, not sure though. I have 2 gb of ram, so I'm not sure.

Should I dual boot XP 32 and try it there?

All games work, they are slower than usual though. All games that are older than 3 years I believe would work fine.

I'm going to install XP 32 on a 10 gb partition, and reinstall World in conflict on that partition. Wish me luck!

I think the specs are for single but does the game utilize double? I would try XP 32 since it dont require as much resources to the OS. Im guessing Vista 64 is chugging up to many of your resources. Do you have any frinds you could let try the card for you. I really think the card is fine.

Unfortunently, I don't have any friends running decent computers, and the only people willing to test it have laptops.

I have a pentium 4 laying in my room, but it doesn't have a good power unit.
