So as you can see on the topic, I would like to know how are the SSD speeds of PCIe 4.0 disk in a 3.0 slot.
Am I at least possible to get the maximum speed that the 3.0 slot can give from the 4.0 disk?

As an example; What would be the speed of a Samsung 500GB 980 Pro (M.2) in the 3.0 slot?

And if you're curious why: Motherboard should be replaced some day, so why not to buy a better SSD now.

3.0 is half the speed of 4.0. 980 Pro performs up to 3500 MB/s in a 3.0 x4 slot.

Pcie3 is 1000MB/s
Pcie4 is 2000MB/s
Those are per lane speeds.

Will you see that kind of speed?.......no.
For a pcie3 x4 slot expect something like R/W.....3000+/2500+

"Future proofing" storage space is rarely cost effective.

That 500GB drive will be less expensive later.
